Short to ground, or low inverter voltage?

Im working on a toshiba(samsung) board.

I think a cap is shorted to ground.

But the "inverter" wire has 3 volts coming out of it. I assume this is just the on signal. Since it is just one wire. while the 24v/ground have 4-5 wires in common(connected to each other on the inverter board.

I'm going to upload some photos.

I have tons of spare parts, some used, some N.O.S. ham transistors and caps. Message me if you need any parts.

Some of the things I've fixed:
60" Vizio-bad LED's. iBook G4: Resoldered VCC Plug. Geo Tracker ECU: Swollen / Leaking capacitors. Windows Laptop: Soldered broken LVDS wires. Dryer: Burned contact on temp switch. Oven in R.V.: Bad contacts in relays-Exploded by the looks of them! Samsung Oven: Burned contacts on Relays. MSI Motherboard: BSOD-Swollen capacitors, bad graphics card, Moved SATA Input from SATA 1 to SATA 2 plug

The important one is blurry, this should be clearer.

Oh well, its clear enough to see the wire that I am talking about. the longest name printed on there says inverter.

Am I supposed to only get 3 volts?

This is on a LCD with CCL/CFL(?)

After replacing the blown fuse I have 0 volts!

If I unplug that wire I have 24 volts...

Perhaps I should run 24 volts through it and see what smokes

Oh and the connector flips upside down on the receiving end-inverter board.

this is the fuse, I had 2x3amp fuses.

This is on the inverter board.

Re: Short to ground, or low inverter voltage?

You need to check all the power MOSFET's that drive the primary side of the Inverter transformer to see if any one of them has very low resistance between the S and D pins of the MOSFET's.
Also look real close at those Inverter transformers to see if any one of them has sign of over heating or not, look at both dies of the board to see if there are any brown spots where the transformers are.

I'll try to get some good pictures.

And if anyone can identify that brand my thanks go out to you!

                              looks like it's "AO" brand(?)

But I'm not finding anything with the same second number.

Perhaps the second number is just the manufacturing date(?).

I think the numbers on the second line is a date code etc

hello everyone , working zebronics power suply 450 watts , 5v ,3.3v givin short to ground black wire, also in circuit at output, resistor was charred but shows right values , after removing resistors 39ohms, 51 ohms, there was no short , no continuity beeps with ground , but after replacing new resistors (now i am not switching it on) ,again short still exists . when i put bigger ohm resistor like 100k ohm , no short beeping sound comes , lower ohm resistor gives continuity beeps ,other big ones donest , as its a working psu , i am confused what to remove now or how to go further now .

                                          Hi Folks

I'm looking for a extreme high current short killer solution for a reasonable cost.

I have an LGA1700 motherboard (ASUS PRIME Z790-P WiFi) where I exchanged the LGA socket already 3 times, and every time after the socket exchange I get a short of power supply lines VCORE (V variable) and VCCIN_AUX (1.8V).
After taking off the socket, the shorts dissappear again.
The soldermask on the socket is already partially demaged from the heat, so I have reconstructed the soldermask by manually painting the missing soldermask parts with a very small top of a...

PCB Layer to layer short on a low voltage power plane - how to find it?
                                          by Prott
                                          Hello!
Recently I have a problem finding a dead short (as far as my cheap multimeter is concerned) on a multilayered (12 layer) PCB. It is caused due to mechanical stress (warping the board and, I assume, cracking inner layers). Injecting voltage of 0.9 V (operational voltage of that part of the circuit) and drawing 0.5 W doesn't cause any visible hotspot on a thermal camera.

Does anybody have any tips & tricks in order to locate the short more or less precisely? The area has a lot of powerplanes, so it's both blessing and a curse.

Silly idea no. 1: Can I...

Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is...
