Sharp LC-60EQ10U - powers on but no glow

    Hello all,

    Sharp LED LCD LC-60EQ10U

Anyone have a service manual for this model? Haven't had any luck finding one.

Initially, this set would not power on. I replaced the main board (QPWBXG381WJZZ) and now it will power on (front LED remains lit) but the screen is black (no glow).

I searched for "LC-60EQ10U" in the threads and tried some of the recommendations. Holding down the POWER+MENU buttons for 5 seconds while plugging in the AC results in a flashing front LED. Looks like a 'pulsating' flash gradually increasing/decreasing intensity fairly rapidly (maybe once per second or faster).

Disconnecting the 4 ribbon cables from the TCON board allows the LED strips to glow (I can see them glowing from the backside) but it looks like the LCD is still black.

    At L1, I'm getting 83V and 10V. 12V going to panel.

    Any thoughts?

If you shine a bright light on the screen can you see an image if you select menu and look very carefully. Do you have sound. What are the voltages on the 8 wires of L1 as you switch on. The voltages may peak but drop quickly so if you have a max/min function on your meter would be useful. Repeat switch on for each wire.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

"Disconnecting the 4 ribbon cables from the TCON board allows the LED strips to glow (I can see them glowing from the backside) but it looks like the LCD is still black." The Dimming PWM for the backlights is from the T-CON board, so at this point is no allowing the Backlights to come on if PWM is sitting at 0V..
Are you getting PNL-12V feeding the T-CON board?

I misspoke about the glow of the panel. The panel DOES glow (with TCON ribbons disconnected) but I can't see anything with the flashlight trick. No sound. Thanks for the service manual link.

          Here are the L1 readings:
          (L1-15) LED4-: 10.5V
          (L1-13) LED4+: 83.5V
          (L1-11) LED3-: 10.5V
          (L1-9) LED3+: 85V
          (L1-7) LED2-: 10.5V
          (L1-5) LED2+: 85V
          (L1-3) LED1-: 10V
          (L1-1) LED1+: 85V

          Yes, at PD pins 1 and 2 (PNL12V) I am getting 12V.

When I reconnect everything and turn it on, the front panel LED remains lit for maybe a minute, then it starts throwing a flash code. It looks like 3 "normal(?)" flashes, then 1 quick flash, then repeat. Based on the service manual, it looks like a P board issue. However, maybe I'm not following the manual correctly. Attached are the pages I'm going by. Thank you!

Page 6-3 appears to indicate 3 slow, 1 fast pulse as a communication problem. Have you tried a firmware update.

Thanks, dick. It appears you must use the OSD to upgrade the firmware. I have no picture, though. Page 4-32 of the operation manual (attached).

OK, so the DCV at the LED 1+~LED4+ are 85VDC. Is that reference to the chassis GND?
So at this point just to be sure; you do have backlights but no images on the screen, correct?

Yes, chassis ground. The same one the board is grounded to. I do have backlights when the TCON ribbon cables are removed. No backlights when the TCON is connected. No image on screen.

I understand, but I can't use the on screen menu because I can't see it.

So do you have to remove all 4 cables from the T-CON to the LCD panel to make the backlights come on or it only takes to remove just one of the Four to make the backlights come on?
It sounds like you may have problem in the panel.

Good call, bud. With SC5302 disconnected, I get half snow and half vertical lines. Pics attached. Bad T-CON?
With any of the 4 other cables disconnected, I get no backlight.

EDIT: While looking for a TCON board replacement, I've noticed the board in the set now is a G400FM07. The parts list in the service manual says the TCON should be a G400FM01 for the LC-60EQ10U. This set was given to a guy that brought it to me. I wonder if they tried their own repairs and used the wrong board? The G400FM07 isn't even in the service manual. ShopJimmy says the G400FM07 is for an LC-60SQ15U. Not really sure if it matters?

So, replaced the TCON with a "good" board from eBay (they claimed it was tested; only place I could find one). The same problem persists. Disconnecting one ribbon cable from the TCON gives me half snow/half vertical lines.
                            Any other suggestions?

leave the tcon cables connected. Look towards the bottom corner of the tv on each side. There is flex cables that connect the bottom edge boards to the drivers on each side of the panel. At the "cable clamp" there in, disconnect the flex cable (similar to what you did on the tcon) carefully. then tried powering up. Do the same test on the other side (only have one side at a time disconnected). If you get lucky, you can go from there.

Messing with those flex cables causes half the screen to go black or white, while the other side remains "snow." Bad panel?

are you feeding into any of the inputs? your "messing with those cable..." doesn't really provide much good information. Describe exactly which cable results in what screen display. Post a picture. It is unlikely that "snow" is a panel issue.... but it depends on the "storm"... :-) It sounds like you are on the "antenna" input of the atsc tuner with nothing connected.

andytv, I gave up after replacing the TCON and the MAIN boards.

budwich, there is a picture above. the "snow" is the antenna input. I'm fine with snow, it's the colored vertical lines that I don't want.

Thanks, the LED sequence flashing in my case, 3-1, points to the main board according to the SM. I ordered one. Will cost 100$ to find out !! . I'll keep you posted.
The problem with EBay, often those supposedly good board are not. They've been sold and returned many times.

                                          Hello all,

I'm stumped on this guy, so wanted to see if anyone has any further ideas:

                                          Intro:

This is an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-55M1 with unknown prior history (bought "as-is" on eBay). It charges the battery and powers on from both AC adapter and battery, so I think this rules out main power issues.

Upon attempt to boot, it will "reboot" (meaning powers down and then powers on again) only once, and then stays stuck in a status of lights on / no post / no monitor. Powering on with fn+esc maxes out the fans on first boot attempt,...

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I like to tinker with Sony electronics, I have been lucky trouble shooting sony stuff, But I can't find much info on this Sharp TV.

The problem; plug to power>white led power indicator light is on>it turns on to the red Sharp logo>
then the android logo is displayed, lit fine then the android logo brightness varies, then lit normal, then the tv restarts and does the same startup logos over and over for 5 times then it turns off and the power indicator light flashes the trouble code 3 long blinks plus 3 short blinks .

                                          does...

                                          Hello Sharp TV experts
Our Sharp LC-80LE642U displays one short one long flash error code which is a backlight error. I went into service mode and there were 8 lamp error counts recorded. I reset the count to 0 and did a reset. The last monitor error cause was 16 B00014639:12. 16 is the code for backlight error. I tried to power the tv up but went back into error mode.

                                          > I checked voltages on the power supply board and they all check out .. including 3.28 volts at the error pin.

Powers on as normal shows an image then powers off after 10 seconds

I have to unplug it from the wall and replug to get it to turn back on but then shuts off
