Does anyone have any idea why the power supply board keeps overheating to the point that it actually discolors the board and eventually fails on a Vizio E320AR? The power board part number is 56.04119.071. I have replaced the board with a used one that's beginning to do the same thing. The original board was completely dead. The second board worked for awhile but now shows the Vizio logo and then goes into standby and will not respond to anything. I have since moved the board slightly while powering it on and it seems to stay on now, but of course this is temporary. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
We need pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards so we can see how they are connected together, and good clear straight shot pictures of the top and the bottom side of YOUR power supply board; that will be a starting point.Last edited by budm; 07-18-2017, 10:24 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
Thanks budm. The pictures I've taken of the power supply board are of the original board. It has swollen caps but the replacement board I installed does not have swollen caps, if that even matters. You can see where it's getting so hot that it has discolored the board. Also notice where the burnt place is between the board and tv. Thanks for your help.Comment

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
It appears to be a common problem with power supply boards which have inductors wound on a ferrite core. I think it's caused when the capacitors are failing causing the ripple current to increase.
Make sure the inductor solder joints have not cracked are securely soldered.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Thanks for your help dick barton. Do you think a little higher voltage capacitors would do any good?Last edited by JunkmanJimbo; 07-19-2017, 07:36 AM.Comment

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
I think the problem begins when the capacitors start to fail and not their capacity.
Replace with high temperature, good quality, low ESR capacitors.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

It can due to bad caps on the Backlights driver board which is inside the LCD panel.Never stop learning

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
Thanks budm. The tv has an excellent picture when it's on. In this case, do you feel like those capacitors could still be the issue? Is there anything else you can think of I can check also?Comment

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
Yes, if the caps on the backlights driver board are bad then the output caps on the power supply boards will not be able to handle the ripple current for too long. There was a thead at BC regarding to this symptom, the OP keep changing the caps on the power supply board because they keep going bad until I pointed out to him to check or replace the caps on the inverter board to solve the problem.

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
Just checking in to see if you replaced the capacitors? I have the same tv with the same problem. My power supply looks just like yours with dark spots besides the capacitors on the upper left. Those caps are bulging as well. Hope to hear from you!Comment

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
Replacing these capacitors will sometimes fix the problem it seems, but only temporarily. The heat appears to be coming from the transistors on the bottom side of the board opposite the capacitors. I couldn't find a number on these transistors that I could cross to a replacement. So, I just replaced the whole board.Comment

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
Vizio TV suck in boot up screen when turned on.
Need a little help here... i've been looking for a similar thread but can't find anything.....
I have a Vizio , model number E3DB420VX, and the mother board number is 3642-1462-0150(7b).
After looking and researching on the internet for the last two days it seems that all arrows point to the EEPROM CHIP.. however i can't find the location of the chip and nowhere on the internet is it listed.... question is, IS it on this motherboard or is it integrated like the emachine computers of old.... yes i'm that old. If someone can point out what the location number might be that would be awesome. The only station numbers i have seen that remotely look like eeproms are U2,6,8,10. All others look like something else. I've contacted shopjimmy and anybody else listed and they told me to come here. So here i am. I appreciate all suggestions...
Not trying to hijack but need some helpsComment

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
Can you post pictures of the chips you believe might be the eeprom chips. U2 could be the chip you are looking for. What are the numbers on that chip? I might have one that I can program for you if you can send me the old one.Comment

Re: Vizio E320AR Power Supply Board Overheats
From what I have seen the EPROMs for this tv are 8 pin and there are a total of like 5... I want to say it's location U2,6,8,10, and maybe 4. I'll look tonight when I get home post some pics with the numbers on the actual chips to see if one of those is the culprit. Is it common for vizios it all tvs to have these issues ? This tv is only three years old. I have a hitachi plasma I bout in 2008 still kickin no problems. On the vizio I've had to replace the ir sensor and this is the second time I've had to open it .

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by sam_sam_samI did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow
This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

by NicktronicHey everyone,
This power supply board is hard to find but there are repair kits available. This board had a blown fuse, FP801S, blown PFC MOSFET, QP802CS and ceramic cap, CP809. I replaced them with parts I already had and tested the rest of the parts that would've come in the repair kit and they were fine. I powered the board up on the bench expecting, in typical Samsung power supply board fashion, to see all my output voltages but, nothing. 0 volts on CNL801, CNM801 and CNT801. The only thing I have is 170vdc on the filter caps. No standby voltage either.
