    Sony KDL-46XBR6, bad T-Con?

A friend of mine gave me this Sony KDL-46XBR6. Initially, it would work for a while (picture looked perfect and had sound) and after 30 minutes to a couple hours the screen would turn pink & green plaid (no other picture) but sound would continue. I read up on it and figured it was the T-Con board. After testing it for a few days eventually the picture went totally black and the TV shut off with 14 blinks. Again, I read up on it and people pointed to T-Con board.

So, I replaced the T-Con board. eBay seller sent me the replacement and I installed it and got the attached photo. I get that picture and I still get audio, but TV shuts off after a 30 seconds or so with 14 blink code. Note that with the old T-Con board, before it broke, I did not have the white overlay on the left side of the screen.

Bad replacement T-Con board? Or do you think something else may have gone bad as well based on the picture.

    Thanks!

disconnect one side of the tcon board, check the pic and then do the other half and see what you get.

I'm working on the same model problem child. I've ordered 3 tcons off ebay and got 3 bad ones with open surface mount fuse on the board back side and 14 blink code. Returned them all fortunately. About to check the fourth board. They are expensive and you might want to consider paid repair of the board. OTOH, double check the seating of the two ribbon cables. Inaccurate placement will cause just the issue in your photo.

Just to follow up on this issue, I returned the T-Con that I had bought off of eBay and received a full refund. I was able to pick up another used T-Con from a different seller on eBay for $49. 2nd times a charm. Installed it today and the TV is working beautifully!

I re-seated the ribbon cables a bunch of times and it did not fix the problem. That T-Con board was definitely defective. The new board, I popped it in and it worked on the first shot.

Glad you got it to work!
Was the tag number on the board that fixed your set 55.46T02.C05 or 55.46T03.C03? I have the same problem child Sony model for a year now. Every ebay T-con I bought except the last one has had an open fuse. None worked. This new t-con is a 55.46T03.C03. The seller said it had a good picture on his parts TV. All I got with it on my TV was a backlit black screen followed by shutdown to 14 blinks. The seller thought it would be incompatible with a panel that came with a 55.46T02.C05.
Shopjimmy (and every seller who copies them) says the two parts are compatible. What do you think?
I've been unable to find 55.46T02.C05 anywhere selling under $120, and one even was posted last month for $200! So I hope you got a 55.46T03.C03 that worked.

Are you checking fuses after you install or before?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

The replacement board was indeed a 55.46T03.C03 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/282479632091), as was my original board.
I think there are a lot of bad boards out there and sellers who don't really test their parts.

I had one with a blown fuse and I took an alligator clip and put it across the fuse and the tv worked. I scavenged a fuse from my mountain of donor boards and put it right over the bad one. Soldered it in and its still good to go(1 month)

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Ordered Wrong TCON Board For Sony TV, Can I flash Epprom
                    by gersrt
                    HI

Made a mistake and ordered the wrong TCON board to replace in my KDL-46HX823, the board I ordered was Sony PLY 1-883-893-11 which is sort of correct.

But later realized this board is used in 4 or 5 models, any way the one i got sent was for KDL-55HX820.

Physically these boards are identical, everything on the board is the same. I havent put this board into the TV yet, but am I right in saying all i would have to do is copy the Epprom from my faulty board and transfere it on to the new board, or is there still something else that may stop this working....

Sony A8H to A80J mainboard upgrade possible?
                    by TerraPhantm
I have a Sony 65A8H. Always bothered me that it doesn't have HDMI 2.1. I noticed the A80J board appears quite similar. And comparing some wiring diagrams in the service manuals (albeit A9G vs A90J since I couldn't find the A8/80 manuals), things appeared quite similar. And my understanding is the panels between the two TVs are more or less the same.

So I decided I'd experiment a little bit.

I bought an A80J board. Left the speaker connection unplugged because it doesn't fit. Changed the power connector to fit the new board. Plugged in everything else.

                    When...

Sony KDL-40Z4500 LCD with stripes and 9 blinks (possible BGC board or harness problem
                    by huj3r
                    Hi there!

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 which shows a colored vertical stripes pattern when turning on, with a central black shadow that slowly dissipates within the first 10 seconds.

Photo of the situation after the black shadow dissipates:

After this behavior the red LED will blink 9 times, then pause for a bit, and blink again 9 times, in a loop.

I checked the manual (available here) and this corresponds to "HFR error", quoting from the manual:

                    > This indicates HFR Communication error. [ HFR Communication...
