Okay this one's actually throwing me for a loop. Dual Channel LED strips one on the right one on the left all of them are lighting up no shorts. The mainboard does the processing for the back lights including voltage to the lights and balancing. The power supply provides 24 volt which is actually 15 volt I believe the 24 volt is mislabeled due to other threads on this forum. I have seen other people notice that there's only 15 volts on a good working TV. However back lights come on for a brief second exposing the V for Vizio and then shuts down the backlighting. screen still working and so is audio. Check ed solder connections and all sorts of other circuits. What I found is if I disconnect either side of the LED strips upon power up one side will come on and stay lit at that point I can connect the other side. This is intermittent period sometimes both sides come up no problem in the TV will run all day like this. Almost sounds like a low current condition or a ramp up condition. I'm stumped if this could be a power supply or a main board failure. The power supply seems to providing all voltages upon startup. The dim pin holds steady 1.65 volts DC. Grounding the pin or disconnecting the pin makes no difference. Any ideas?

Re: E500i-b1 piece of **** backlight problem
Ive had Led fail intermittently on some Led Tvs when they wear out. Doubt its caps though too new could probably be a control Ic issue or Led issue as I said. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Tengo el mismo problema which drive me loco. Hope this might help you.
Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Finally, I did fix it by first change IC9301 then IC9101. Estoy muy feliz ahora.

Ok so essentially what you are saying is that from your post this was a problem with your TV? Intermittent LED backlighting? Definitely power supply related huh?

Re: E500i-b1 piece of **** backlight problem
I did not have this (Intermittent LED backlighting?) problem because I use LED tester 100% isolated this problem. The TV has intermittent power start up problem. Sometimes TV power does turn on , sometimes it doesn't turn on.
When customer bought me this dog TV, it was cool down so when I tested TV it did work, but after next day the TV warm up is not work. Finally I used hair dryer to point-out the problem and fixed by change FSFR 1700XS PWM IC. I hope this will help you.
"if I disconnect either side of the LED strips upon power up one side will come on and stay lit at that point I can connect the other side. " It caused by the insufficient power current supply (IC9101FSFR 1700XS ). You can try that IC with hair dryer see if TV will work.Last edited by capwizard; 03-18-2017, 02:09 PM.

Re: E500i-b1 piece of **** backlight problem
Okay so I got into this little deeper and you are right I was getting some strange DC Ripple upon startup. The problem is definitely ic9101 however heat doesn't change this symptom on this TV however extreme freezing of that ic regulator does change it. it Powers up immediately. so as I already had and IC9303 standby regulator I replaced that first. Needless to say I have that regulator on order and we'll see how it works when I get it.
Long story short the excessive DC Ripple current through the 15 volt line is enough to cause the main board to shut down the power supply. This represents itself into different scenarios. The first scenario where the LEDs go out however the TV still works just no backlight. The second scenario is when it fails even further than the 15 volt line comes up and then slowly drops off causing the TV to go into a shutdown state. You have to look real close for the flashlight to see if the screen is still working or not. In my case and Screen did work half the time and then the other half the time it would not.
Thanks guys for your help with this oneLast edited by freakaftr8; 03-18-2017, 02:57 PM.Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Re: E500i-b1 piece of **** backlight problem
Not enough thermal paste contact with the heatsink from the factory plus a very small heat sink with an IC that needs to dissipate quite a bit more heat than the sink will allow especially with a very small amount of thermal paste is most likely the cause to this problemDid I leave the soldering iron on?

Re: E500i-b1 piece of **** backlight problem
Resolder the led driver chip / mosfets and any other component around it and see if that helps. That was the solution to a problem with backlights in a current post on this Forum.Last edited by dick_barton; 04-01-2017, 07:34 AM.Willing to help but I'm no expert.
