    LG TV stopped working.

Recently whilst watching my tv it stopped working. I unplugged it for about 10 mins and tried the TV again. The TV displayed the home screen for a split second and then goes black and then the standby light flashes 3 times and then stays a solid red.

It's a 48 inch LG LCD smart tv with a dual core processor. It's only 2 years old.I checked the capacitors for any swelling or bursts and they all seem fine.

No scorch marks anywhere or lose wires that i am aware of.

I just took it apart again and to look at the soldering and put it back together. The tv actually works but the screen is so black it looks like it is not on but i can see the menu and operate the tv.

        Back light issues?

Have a read through the following Thread which you should find helpful. From what you say in post#4 it would appear to be a backlight problem.

Thank you for the response, the thread helped a lot.

I am just debating if it's worth fixing as many people are finding it hard to find replacements. I did look on ebay and they seem to have some strips that seem to match the same as the sticker identified on the back panel of my tv.

I'm just debating now if i should try and fix it myself, try and ring up a few places see how much it will cost for a repair or just get a new one.

I have basic knowledge when it comes to TV's.

Well I would buy a strip or two and use them to do a stacking repair. Very cheap repair if you don't break panel. You can search youtube about doing it.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

This is why bcn is here dont be a baby and get on with it if not you've just wasted peoples time here you can do it have faith in yourself ! Watch my vids on the stacking method or order the Leds and be very careful with the Lcd screen when removing it making sure to tape the tab boards to the panel then carefully lifting it.

Also please dont tell me your the person who bid £140 for this model on ebay lol or you could sell it to me

If your careful you will do just fine. I did about 30 of these now, they are not too hard.
One tip: putting the screen back in it's place, make sure the metal frame is laying down flat, supported with something(block it up like a car). The metal housing flexes a lot and makes it to not sit perfectly flush/straight?If then you put the screen in,it will most likely crack(don't ask how I know).Stacking led's like reeceyBurger or even replacing the led's themselves is really not that hard.Do it step by step and ANY question or doubt you have, just stop and post it in this post, you will be helped

Hello again. I am about to order parts that i have seen on ebay but doesn't quite match the model of the tv.

I was wondering what do i need to match, is the model of the tv important of the sticker located on the back plate for the LED lights.

                            http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-6916L-...EAAOSwwpdW6uv1

The sticker labelled read LCH470DUE (SF) (R1) the only thing that seemed like it didn't match was the model number.

There are two strips to make a full length. One with 5 leds which connect to one strip with 4 led so 9 led total per length.
You could buy 1 strip and use the leds from that strip to replace the faulty ones you find or just buy replacement strips.

maybe flocko has them in stock? if your doing the stacking method maybe cheaper than buying a new strip to cut up i will see if i can find his ebay shop link.

Could very well be the backlights, I'd test it out before I had to rip into it tho.
