Samsung curved UE55H8005 no picture

I got this curved Samsung LED model UE55H8005 which does not show a picture, sound and functions OK.

Upon start-up, backlight turns on for one second (but no picture shows)

Some tests done:
Disconnecting T-CON either flatcable or connection between T-CON and PSU, the backlight will be on continously.
Obviously something on T-CON doesn't want the backlight on.

BL-ON signal is high whenever set is turned on, but PWM1-3 goes to zero and backlight turns off as a result.

Blue control leds on T-CON is on.

Question is: Is this a bad T-CON ?

They are PWM dimming controls, it has three control lines for Zone dimming based on the scene of the image..
There is small connector on the T-CON board which I cannot clearly see, that connector may be used to control the zone dimming. Need closed up pictures of the T-CON (shopjimmy does not seem to have anything on this TV model).

Backlights issue I suspect.

+1 2014 TV with 90-100 % backlight degree will never survive till now

Guys read ! "Backlight stays on when mb is disconnected, something on tcon doesn't want bl on" so tcon has fault.

Haha Reece i was thinking the same!

Curved tv and already dead. Unbelievable to be honest. Worst thing is that it's just a led tv with a lcd screen thats bend. Remove it and its just a lcd screen haha. Just a marketing trick , blegh.

both of you wrong... read blue indicator on on T-CON , T-CON concocted to the same dimming circuit on PWB. backlight level 1 at start up (Logo) all on (in this case not all line turn on ) step 2 signal sync ( LED give error = T-CON OFF indicator ON..

in General after end 2014 begin 2015 new policy issued for LED Indicator on PWB and T-CON to mark issue when LED back light in use. just for your info.

haha. did the OP have courage to take curve out of set !! Samy neither do this .. its suck point to buy new one so the thought before,,, disposable TV for 3 years

how long you would like to extended lol if user had backlight as it shipped to be 90% x 5 hours day ... or more... did you forget yours dad TV samy !! was ... you mentioned here before how much hours was on. after you repair it and looked to service mode.. LOL

What is the power supply P/N? BN44-?????
LCD panel P/N????
Also need good clear and focused pictures of the power supply board and the T-CON board.

Some tests done:
Disconnecting T-CON either flatcable or connection between T-CON and PSU, the backlight will be on continously.
The LED driver circuit has its own local protection circuit to detect Over Voltage due to open LED circuit, over current if LEDs or output draws too much. So if the LEDs have problem, or bad wiring for the LEDs then the LED will not stay on when running the self test. The LED driver also generates the ERROR signal if there is problem in the LED circuit and sends that to the main board.

just to look from the TV back hole to see there backlight never mean they are all fine. we remember at Toshiba 3D HD TV backlight one group get off. then all off, and when we plug out the 24V from PWB to LED driver board. the back light shining.. but still there are one group off.

Hi guys, not much to tell at this point. But, mainboard send LVDS and PWM dimming info to T-CON and from a small connector on T-CON to PSU to control backlight dimming.

If I disconnect this small connector, the backlight will be all on but still no picture whatsoever. It can either mean the mainboard doesn't send any picture data to T-CON or that T-CON is faulty.

I would like to know if this T-CON can be put into testmode? (pattern generation or similair) then I could judge if the mainboard needs replacement or not.

Set lost picture during operation, sound and functions all OK

I need to be able to read the pin labels of the connector of the power supply board that goes to the main board and also to the T-CON small connector so I can see what the wires from the T-CON to the power supply board are..

Yes, budm, here's close up pics on both tcon and PSU.
I turned it on again right now and fuse on tcon went and bad smell of nearby IC, so I think this case will be solved by changing tcon.

PSU is BN44-00727A
T-CON is BN95-01311A
