Vizio E390I-A1 No picture, has backlights.

Picked up this TV that turns on, has backlights but no picture. There is no seperate TCON.

I figured a bad main and ordered from shopjimmy. They were only selling the complete repair kit and not the main board by itself. I replaced the main, still had the same symptoms. Replaced the LVDS cable with no change. Went ahead and put the power supply and led driver boards in (because why not?) and I still have the same symptoms.

SJ sent me another kit thinking the main was bad in the first one. Received it and still have the same symptoms. The only thing I can think of is that I either received 2 bad main boards or I have a shorted panel. But I have never seen a shorted panel in a TV this small and wanted to get some advice. TIA

Need straight shot pictures of the main board around the LVDS connector so we can see if there is 12V going the panel or not. There may be a fuse on the panel PCB also.

Here is a pic of the main from SJ. My camera does not do close up pics clearly.
Here is the link as well - https://www.shopjimmy.com/vizio-cbpf...r-e390i-a1.htm

I'll also check the panel pcb for a fuse. I am at work now so I won't be able to check until tomorrow.

Your Lcd panel is one Ive had issues with before, you see the ribbon cables that link the Lcd driver boards give them a reseat see if it works.

I reseated the ribbon cables with no change. Still have backlight, no picture.

I also checked for a fuse on the panel PCB and did not see one.

It looks to be that Q104 by the LVDS connector is the switched MOSFET for supplying the VCC to the TCON, so check the MOSFET Q104 pin 5 (5~8 are all connected together) to see if it has 12VDC output or not when TV is ON.
BTW, do you have good clear picture around the LVDS connector on the LCD panel so I can see if I can locate the SMD fuse.

Here is a close up of the LVDS. I'll have the readings shortly.

Fuse as show. With set off check using your meter set to ohms and probes on each side that it measures 0 ohms

Then with set switched on and meter set to dc volts, measure what voltage is on the fuse. Red probe on fuse, black on chassis.

Sorry for the delay, been a little under the weather.

                        On ohms I get 0.6
I get 12.4 volts at the fuse with the set on.

Fuse are okay and volts okay too, you need to release the LVDS socket from panel TAP and inspect first the socket pin, clean.. also need to release the TAP from the chassis to inspect the back side of it if there burn or cut ) break. same way to the ribbon between LCD and TAP. its look no feed go back from Panel to the MB

Ok, on pin 5 of Q104 I have 12 volts.

I cleaned and reseated the LDVS cables with no change. (I cleaned both of my cables and tried both again with no change.)

I checked the panel PCB and did not notice any burnt spots.

So I am guessing it is the panel that is bad somehow since everything else checks out?

Should I just write this one off and take it to the recycling center?
