    Vizio D650i-B2 stuck on logo

I'm working on a Vizio D650i-B2 for a friend. It turns on and displays the logo and then freezes with the logo on the screen. Before I worked on it they left it on for hours without it ever changing. At that point it won't do anything. I can't even turn it off.

I have a decent background in electronics but I'm old school and behind the times so this thing is a bit baffling for me. I did a quick look on YouTube and found a video posted by shopjimmy showing the problem and they said it's usually a bad eeprom and if not that it's usually the T-con board so I ordered a T-con board figuring it was the safest way to go.

Unfortunately I have the exact same problem with the new board so now I'm lost and would appreciate any suggestions. I asked someone at shopjimmy for suggestions and they sent me here...

I searched the forum for this problem and I found some similar but none quite fit these symptoms.

Also, I don't know if it's related but it's been troublesome even before this problem. It had a tendency to freeze while watching streaming movies, etc and would become totally unresponsive. It had to be unplugged to get it to work again.

But the current failure seems to have come after a thunderstorm so the 2 problems may be unrelated.

So you did not replace the EPROM chip?

Or may just be better off picking up a main board if unable to find a replacement eprom. I would probably just replace the main board just to be sure since you stated other issues as well.

Great... in my first post to the forum I've managed to establish the fact that I'm an idiot. :-)

Somehow after watching several videos and reading posts I mistakenly decided the eeprom was on the T-con board so I figured replacing it was covering both bases.

I still can't find anything conclusive but it would appear to be on the main board. I can't find anyone that sells the eeprom for that model so I apparently need to order a main board.

So before I make another idiotic mistake could someone please verify that it is on the main board for this model and that it is the most likely cause of the problem? Of course if you know of a supplier of this eeprom that would be most appreciate too because the board is pretty expensive.

      Thanks for the help!

since you are thinking of replacing the main board (maybe), why don't you try reloading the firmware (via usb if possible) and see if that helps.

Thanks, that sounds like a great idea but I don't have a clue where to find the firmware or how to reload it so any help in that direction would be GREATLY appreciated!

:-( doesn't look like they offer a "usb upgrade" method.

I saw this posted in another thread for something else.

This was posted another member "jeh245"

"BEFORE YOU buy a new main board board for any Vizio TV that is stuck on the Vizio logo try to reset the tv by doing these steps. I had to turn tv on then hold down on menu on keypad and press menu on the remote then release menu button on remote and press 1991 on remote then let go of menu on tv. Once your there go down to reset tv and it should re flash eeprom chip and that's it. It worked for me."

Thanks, I'll give that a try. It'll be Wednesday before I get a chance to look at it again but I'll report back and let you know how it goes.

hope it works... I was looking for the "reset" sequence but could only find one which was showing a "menu display sequence" which isn't good if you can't get thru the display.

Re: Vizio D650i-B2 stuck on logo

Sorry I didn't provide an update sooner but I haven't had much time to work on it. I had planned to try the reset information provided above by splatee but I realized this TV doesn't have a MENU button. The only button on it is a power button. I tried holding it on as I plugged it in and using the remote but it wouldn't respond.

Next I removed the main board and found a small burned spot on it. Looks like a resistor or cap was nearly vaporized. :-)

So I ordered a main board from shopjimmy and it arrived yesterday and that took care of the problem.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Vizio V555-G1 stuck on wallpaper; now stuck on V logo
                      by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it's getting stuck on the wallpaper. When I first power it on it goes to the V logo, then a black screen for about 15 seconds, then a Chromecast error for just a few seconds, and then finally to a wallpaper. It stays frozen on this wallpaper and does not respond to anything on the remote besides power on/off. Likewise the buttons on the tv do nothing either (besides power). I did the "reset" by holding the volume down and input buttons together for 10 seconds. It showed a message at the top of the screen saying it was Wiping Data and would restart soon. After...

                      MacBook Air A2337 - 820-02016 - Stuck at 5v - Varying current draw - Board had short
                      by duwane
                      Hi All.

I have an 820-02016 board (A2337 M1) that has come in for data recovery. Reported as liquid damage, but no visible evidence of any liquid damage.

Board was initially stuck at 5v, and current only spiking occasionally to around 400mA and cycling.

After initial troubleshooting, found that C7800 (which feeds the power rail PP5V_BSTLQ_VOUT_SPMU) was dead short to ground.

Replaced C7800 and short gone. Board still stuck at 5v. Current draw behaviour changed. It now spikes up for a second to around 100mA to 130mA, then drops down to...

Apple 820-01958-A logic board stuck on 5V .19amp
                      by mferna14
Hi friends, working on a MacBook Air A2179 logic board 820-01958-A logic board. It's just stuck on 5V .19amp on one USB-port & then when I use to the other port it's also stuck on 5V .19amp but on this port it resets after few secs & start over with the same said voltage. I assumed that one of the CD3217B12s is defective, & replaced both with known good ICs. The status & result remains the same. I checked for shorts or liquid spill, all clear. On F8400 there is 12v present, but no 5V or 3.3 volts. There are LDO voltages on the both CDs 3.2v & 1.5V. Kindly if someone can help...

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
