Re: Vizio D650i-B2 stuck on logo
Sorry I didn't provide an update sooner but I haven't had much time to work on it. I had planned to try the reset information provided above by splatee but I realized this TV doesn't have a MENU button. The only button on it is a power button. I tried holding it on as I plugged it in and using the remote but it wouldn't respond.
Next I removed the main board and found a small burned spot on it. Looks like a resistor or cap was nearly vaporized. :-)
So I ordered a main board from shopjimmy and it arrived yesterday and that...

Re: Vizio D650i-B2 stuck on logo
Thanks, I'll give that a try. It'll be Wednesday before I get a chance to look at it again but I'll report back and let you know how it goes.

Re: Vizio D650i-B2 stuck on logo
Thanks, that sounds like a great idea but I don't have a clue where to find the firmware or how to reload it so any help in that direction would be GREATLY appreciated!

Re: Vizio D650i-B2 stuck on logo
Great... in my first post to the forum I've managed to establish the fact that I'm an idiot. :-)
Somehow after watching several videos and reading posts I mistakenly decided the eeprom was on the T-con board so I figured replacing it was covering both bases.
I still can't find anything conclusive but it would appear to be on the main board. I can't find anyone that sells the eeprom for that model so I apparently need to order a main board.
So before I make another idiotic mistake could someone please verify...

Vizio D650i-B2 stuck on logo
I'm working on a Vizio D650i-B2 for a friend. It turns on and displays the logo and then freezes with the logo on the screen. Before I worked on it they left it on for hours without it ever changing. At that point it won't do anything. I can't even turn it off.
I have a decent background in electronics but I'm old school and behind the times so this thing is a bit baffling for me. I did a quick look on YouTube and found a video posted by shopjimmy showing the problem and they said it's usually a bad eeprom and if not that it's usually the T-con board so I ordered a T-con board figuring...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, I'm Keith. I've been screwing around with electronics since the early 70's. My first kit was a PAiA Gnome muic synthesizer. My first computer was a Sinclair ZX80 kit. I took 2 years of electronics at a tech school and then went to work on flight simulators for a major airline where I worked until I screwed up my back in 1996.
The first simulator I worked on had a computer with the original surface mount components called flatpacks. If you haven't heard of them look them up, they were pretty cool in their day....
