I'm working on a Vizio D650i-B2 for a friend. It turns on and displays the logo and then freezes with the logo on the screen. Before I worked on it they left it on for hours without it ever changing. At that point it won't do anything. I can't even turn it off.
I have a decent background in electronics but I'm old school and behind the times so this thing is a bit baffling for me. I did a quick look on YouTube and found a video posted by shopjimmy showing the problem and they said it's usually a bad eeprom and if not that it's usually the T-con board so I ordered a T-con board figuring it was the safest way to go.
Unfortunately I have the exact same problem with the new board so now I'm lost and would appreciate any suggestions. I asked someone at shopjimmy for suggestions and they sent me here...
I searched the forum for this problem and I found some similar but none quite fit these symptoms.
Also, I don't know if it's related but it's been troublesome even before this problem. It had a tendency to freeze while watching streaming movies, etc and would become totally unresponsive. It had to be unplugged to get it to work again.
But the current failure seems to have come after a thunderstorm so the 2 problems may be unrelated.
