    Re: Samsung LN40E550 Dim Screen

DP805 measured 0.117 in both directions. Does it need to be removed from circuit and retested?

If something tests weird in circuit, always take it out or lift a leg and retest it again.

Ok, might be awhile until I post back, think my soldering iron is broken, may have to get a new one.

Thank you for the help so far.

              It should be good.

Can you check the resistance between the two pads of which the diode legs were soldered to when the diode is not connected?

                    Should I check DP804, QP801S, QP802S or RP821 next?

The only problem I see with removing QP801S or QP802S to test would be the giant glob of white adhesive on them.

CP811 I'm having trouble testing, capacitance test seems all over the place. What is a good way to test these small ceramic capacitors?

had a similar issue with 40 inch Samsung , turned out to be a faulty main board causing the backlights to go dim as you described , to fix i just cut the PWM control wire from the main board to the power board .....all fixed ,but the backlight is at full power and cant adjust but all good (saves replacing the board)

"CP811 I'm having trouble testing, capacitance test seems all over the place. What is a good way to test these small ceramic capacitors?" We are looking for that leakage resistance of 314 Ohms.

Right now he is getting only 164VDC on the main cap, the PFC Voltage booster is not working.

Can you tell what is printed on the body of the cap? It is high Voltage cap.

So when I removed the diode and tested resistance across the pads, was the 314 ohms a sign that there may be a bad capacitor?

And when I removed the capacitor and rested the pads and saw the high and climbing resistance (sign of a good capacitor?), was that the next capacitor in the circuit that was causing that?

Then testing the resistance of the capacitor after it was out and seeing it was close to the same ohms as when it was in circuit verified that is the problem?

Please feel free to tell me if I'm completely wrong , I'm just trying to understand some of this.

Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

The battery icon always reads as 50% , when the phone goes into lock screen mode i sometimes can't get the screen back on unless I plug the charger in to get it to light up, also it keeps putting the camera app on.. u think it could be something to do with the side buttons. ...

No picture. No sound that I can tell. Backlights are on and have been checked. Flashlight test no image on screen. I replaced the Eprom chip hoping that was the problem but nothing changed.
                                            Please help. Thanks in advance!

                                            HI guys!

I've got a Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN with a problem and need some advice and I hope this is the forum to use?
I'm from Norway so I'd like to apology in advance if my description of the fault is kind of simple or the names on the components are way off. 😊

the TV is powering up, working as normally and picture is all good, except a 1.5-inch-wide vertical line of snow/static across the screen.

This TV is a Signage Display/Public Display version and it's been used at my work for 4-5 years showing commercials 24/7. The fault occurred when...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
