I have a Sony KDL46Z5100 that we were watching and lightning struck near by and the tv turned off. Everything else in the house was fine including the Ac's which were running. The cable, phone, and internet all went down and i was told by the repairman that a coax cable in the basement fried.
When i plug the tv in i hear a relay click and the green indicator led lights for a second then it goes to a red light the blinks 3 times. The screen never powers up.
I downloaded the service manual for the set and it says replace the BU board for 3x blinking red light.
How interchangeable are the BU boards? My BU board is 1-879-224-12 there is another number that is A-1671-683-A.
I found a 1-879-224-12 board but it has A-1671-682-A - Will this work?
I search of KDL-46z5100 also shows BU board 1-879-224-14. Will that board work? Im willing to put some money into saving the tv but i dont want to throw money away with out knowing the part will at least be the right one!
I have found many 1-879-224-14 boards they have different A-1671-68X-X numbers. Do the second set of numbers count towards compatibility?
