I have a Sony KDL46Z5100 that we were watching and lightning struck near by and the tv turned off. Everything else in the house was fine including the Ac's which were running. The cable, phone, and internet all went down and i was told by the repairman that a coax cable in the basement fried.

When i plug the tv in i hear a relay click and the green indicator led lights for a second then it goes to a red light the blinks 3 times. The screen never powers up.

I downloaded the service manual for the set and it says replace the BU board for 3x blinking red light. ...

Hello, I am new to the forum. I dont have much electrical background but i have extensive back ground in redneck engineering and beer budget fixes! I have a can do attitude that gets me in some trouble from time to time but pushes me to meet nice folks like your selves who would rather fix something rather than throw it away.
