Take a look at the pics and see if u think panel or t con? I'm leaning towards panel. Other observation I noticed is the hdmi ports do not seem to be working unless my lappy is being a pia! Lappy couldn't identify all 3 hdmi ports....

Re: Samsung panel failure or t con?
can't see why it would be a panel although if that's not glare in your picture, then the panel would be a candidate.
odds are high that your pc can't talk to the tv (common problem)... get / borrow a cheap dvd player to verify... or try OTA reception for a picture. -
Re: Samsung panel failure or t con?
Nope not glare.....screen is green and osd is red just like in the pictures. I doubt its my lappy as it communicates with the other tvs just fine. But I do have a hdmi blu ray I will try.
So u concur panel? Debating on part out of fixComment

Re: Samsung panel failure or t con?
Because its most likely the as15 chip. Thats only 15 bucks. But I cant solder surface mount. I only ever had good luck with through hole. Hands no good with fine work like that. And there is no one around me that can do surface mount.
So in the bin it goes. Cant justify a 50 usd t con board or a 50 usd repair service on a 8 year old set. Parts it is LOL!Comment

by triplefourTV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.
tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board.... -
by NWArkGuyWell, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...
In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.
I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.
I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ... -
by KYBOSHI came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).
When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.
Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...08-10-2024, 08:39 AM -
by IerwinHello,
I was given this Samsung GU50TU8079U that would power cycle after a couple seconds, sometimes a few minutes. The screen would turned cloudy dark with the backlight still lit and then the sytem would restart.
Its one of the newer screwless Samsung models that I read a lot about panel failures here. It does not have a sperate T-CON board, just one ribon from the mainboard to the panel board and a U-shaped ribbon cable connecting the other half.
I went through the usual diagnostics:
unplugged the mainboard -> tv stayed on
removed the U-Shape robbon ->... - Loading...
