Decreasing the capacitance hugely decreases the stability of the circuits and the output. You do realise how sensitive them sustain boards are dont you ? Lets wait for some other members to chime in see what they think. Your probably going to regret doing that in the long run fact !

Call me a prick whatever but I hope it blows up on you to teach you not to mess like that and get the proper values

Also the X and Y boards have caps to decouple the output from the first sustaining process not the Vs input thats done by the cap that you decreased you fool !

Just because I don't go "by the book" doesn't prove me wrong. I've been argued both ways about capacitance increase or decrease on other forums. I come to this forum, because it has more knowledgeable experienced folks unlike other forums, which are just filled with webnerds that like to troll defending what they learned in school.

The whole "manufacturer knows best" always comes out and proves nothing. Usually the cap the manufacturer chose is based on cost and not necessarily component value, in other words, they use what will work the cheapest, which is why they fail soon and we have to replace them. I usually get most flames from doubling or tripling capacitance, more than I get for decreasing capacitance.

OK, if you are correct and this causes the TV to fail, I'll boldly admit my wrongdoing, and fix it again for free, but until then, no need for name calling or hoping for a failure. Reece, you are one of the people on this forum I really value their opinion or fact, but once it becomes personal or name calling it is silly.

I won't call you anything, and I value our different views, and no hard feelings, but I will leave this thread, and next time, just tell what caps fail and not what you CAN replace them as my little secret, because it always sparks debate.

Ok sorry if I was a little harsh, just dont like the idea of it. Nothing personal at all. Let us know if anything happens.

If the circuits can handle higher ripple Voltage or not due to the chosen value of the capacitance. Cap has to supply the current during off time of the diode, and the cap has to be able to handle the ripple current.

Yeah but I still dont like the idea of it Bud, they put that capacitance there for a reason.

                  UC3842 Power Adapter Blowing Fuse
                  by Dannyx
Good day folks......wow this new layout is weird. It's like I woke up one day and I'm no longer on Planet Earth or something

Anyway....got this here power brick from a USB to SATA adapter which keeps blowing the fuse after I almost repaired it. The reason I even bother to fix a power brick (wall wart, whatever) in the first place is because this thing was really convenient to use: I'd just plug it and that's it. It's a dual output supply, for both 12v and 5v, which although I COULD easily obtain with a DC-DC converter from a standard 12v adapter, I thought I should crack open the...

Samsung PD27AOQ (BN44-00506B) constantly blowing internal fuse.
                  by Tips
                  Looking for some assistance please.
Trying to repair a PD27AOQ samsung power board.
Initially had the typical problem of cm806 capacitor blown, additionally thermistor NT801s blown.
Replaced the ceramic capacitor, str60252s, bridge rectifier, thermistor and fuse.
Testing it the fuse blows immediately power is turned on.
diodes dm852 and dm853 test as shorted when in the board but fine when removed.
any assistance, guidance would be appreciated.

Samsung 46" TV LE46B530 blowing fuse
                  by RogerH58
                  Hi all,

I am a newbie and not very experienced so bear with me if i struggle sometimes with technical language - but I'll do my best. I searched "Samsung" and the model number on the forum but didn't find anything I could understand!

I'm not an electronics guy - just picked up stuff over the years through my flight-simming hobby.

I have the above mentioned 46" tv as the monitor for my flight-sim setup. Recently it went "crack" and stopped working. No standdby light and no response. I assumed a fuse had blown and after investigation...

A funny fuse story – Lumix LX100 II
                  by corrize
Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
                  The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...
