Rectifier Board out of Power Supply
This is a rectifier board out of a power supply from a vintage 1970s jukebox.
It is made out of unobtainium, as in extinct.
F2 and F3 are blown.CR2 is shorted, ITT is all is says on CR2
Q2 is a known weak point, but tests good, Q3 tests bad, Q1 tests bad
CR11 reads current flow both directions
CR5, 6, 7, and 8 have obviously been hot, flow current both directions. thinking I will replace them
Both large axial caps test good but are gertting replaced anyway.
Anyone have any experience with these or have any suggections?
Work on...Last edited by ljintexas; 09-04-2023, 01:45 PM.

Re: Lg55lv4400ua
Does not really tell me anything about temperature..since I don't have a rework station, I am still guessing..400F?

Re: Lg55lv4400ua
There is a known issue with eeprom U14 on this board that causes this very symptom. Ordered the chip with updated LG firmware.
Thanks to all!

Re: Lg55lv4400ua
My initial thoughts were that the main board was at fault. BGA failure makes sense. Thanks for your support!!

Picked up as a non-working set from a friend who could not remember symptoms of failure.
Fired up this set and worked normally (low audio volume) for an hour. Turned off and let sit overnight plugged in. Next attempt not so successful. No reaction from push button or remote.
I have 5.3 and 12.8 volts where labeled. Constant 3.14 volts on Remote_ON/OFF in standby and when on/off button is depressed on TV and remote.
Does main board remove 3 volts to signal smps to fire up?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated....

Did the flashlight test and saw the set up screen.

Re: Sharp LC-50LB371U
Has anyone done LEDs on one of these? I have done a 46 but not a 50. Some of them are a real pain to get apart and back together.

Re: Sharp LC-50LB371U
Pin 1 = 2.4V, Pin 2= 3.3V
Flashlight test shows getting started screen.
V+LED1 = 65V to chassis, V+LED2 = 65V to chassis. V+LED1 = 0V to V-LED1, V+LED2 = 0V to V-LED2.
LED1 circuit = OL, LED2 circuit = 2.3Mohms
I think the LEDs are shot!
Thanks to all for your assistance.

When power is applied, red LED comes on bright, then dim, then flashes slowly.
If I push the power button, the flashing will stop and LED will remain lit. If I push power again it makes a clunk audio sound and LED is off. DIM pin on smps changes from 2.4v to 3.3 volts. PS ON has continuous 3.3 volts if set is plugged in. Pins 15 and 16 measure 0 volts in all states of operation. All pins marked 12V do have 12 volts and GND pins are grounded. At no time does backlight come on. I did find 3.3 volts and 12 volts on the TCON when set was in what I think is ON state....Last edited by ljintexas; 01-31-2021, 07:11 AM.

Re: Sony KD60-X690E
I cleaned and reseated/swapped ribbon cables and sockets. My suspicion is one of the driver/buffer boards is shot which means the panel.

Sony KD60-X690E
I have backlight on this set as well as audio, but no video. You can see the light level change on the panel when remote menu button as well as volume up and down are pushed. I have 12.5 volts to both input circuits of the Tcon..main cpu on the Tcon is warm to the touch.
I did the Tcon test by removing the ribbon cables one at a time. Attached are the results.
Is this a bad panel?
TIA

Re: Samsung UN55HU6700FXZA
I found another Tcon in my board pile with a similar sized shottky and fuse that test good. But without further investigation to find out what shorted the diode, replaciing them would be worthless. I may take the time to investigate. Will post a good pic of it. Thanks Dick, as always I appreciate your help.

Re: Samsung UN55HU6700FXZA
I measured both sides of the diode. I did not understand I was to measure the input side of the fuse to chassis. When powered up, the fuse next to it has 12.75 volts as does the input of the blown fuse. I will measure the input of the fuse to chassis and post results.Last edited by ljintexas; 04-03-2020, 03:47 PM.
