    Emerson LC401EM3F Bad Picture

Have a Emerson LC401EM3f with a very distorted picture. It has horizontal lines threw the center half of the screen. I can see the volume indicator fairly clear, but it tries to display another row of the volume bar a couple inches lower. If you look at the picture with the captions it does the same thing. The audio sounds good. How do I know if the screen is bad or I simply need a tcon board? Thanks

any pictures of the board? Is the Tcon bonded to the LCD panel or not?
If it isn't bonded, you can try to unhook one side of the tcon to the LCD, then the other.

I tried to unhook one of the ribbon cables going to the tcon board. And the tv wouldn't power on. I didn't try to unhook it while it was running for fear of damaging something. Maybe I'm worried about nothing.

I think what you unplugged is the digital mainboard, not the Tcon. The Tcon I think is up on the panel, where the LVDS disappears.
Not much you can to besides checking the LVDS with an oscilloscope and check the Tcon fuse. SJ doesn't list a Tcon for it, so I think it is bonded to the panel = junk.

Before I send this tv to it's final destination. I have one last question. On the power supply there is a output labeled 6.5vf or 1v. I'm assuming they are after 6.5 vdc. and I have 7.92 there instead. I probed it with my scope to make sure it was clean dcv and it was. So I might be barking up the wrong tree but that is the only voltage reading I can find that is wrong. Thanks

Your problem has nothing to do with the PSU.

VIZIO E70-E3 Half picture with half TCON
                  by Fly_Among_Stars
                  Hi,
                  I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
                  Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.

If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and...

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
                  by iglitare
                  Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
                  by kca
                  Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
                  by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Samsung LCD TV no picture backlight on no 12v at tcon
                  by shelby5041
                  hi
i have a samsung lcd tv

it powers on with sound and backlight but no picture

all voltages from PS are good 12v 3.3v and 5v

whats odd is that at the tcon i tested voltage across the fuse on the tcon and i get 0v

i figured main board issue..so i ordered a used main board....when i put replacement main board in i still have same issue

no 12v at the tcon fuse

i disconnect the panel ribbon cables to rule out any panel issues and i still have no 12v at the tcon fuse

                  the odds of having 2...
