Re: Yet Another TC-P55GT30 7 Blinking Light Error

Continuity on Q600 is not good. Check the small diodes next to that ic and see if they are ok.

I won't use that repair kit if i were you unless you want to blow the board also.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

I am talking to ShopJimmy right now, Asking for more information as to why thye chose this as a suitable repair kit.

IF the peak/pulse collector amperage is indeed not that high then these would be suitable parts, and maybe the previous users board had further issues. Or a buffer was bad.

I want to hear their explanation on why they feel this is a suitable replacement.

Being in Canada sending it back with the 20% restocking fee and shipping will cost me just as much as cutting my losses

Maybe some one smarter then I can chime in after a peek at the data sheets and say if its indeed a fine replacement.

Here are the data sheets i could find.

I'd like to save this set not start fireworks.
Pulsed collector current (or peak current) is too low. Requirement is at least 250A for this set. That data sheet doesn't state it's usage for PDP. You need a trench IGBT for this application. Or else very likely to explode sooner or later.

The origional parts were a pulse of 200A for 30F131 and 250A RJP30H2A respective. I am waiting to hear from shop jimmy.

No Sc out of any of this set series has ever used IGBTs of the specs they shipped that i can find.

I might just have to dispute the paypal charge if they are not willing to refund.

Re: Yet Another TC-P55GT30 7 Blinking Light Error

Well they claim i ordered the wrong kit, and that the TNAPA5335 Kit apparently differs and i needed the BJ suffix.

            "Thanks for verifying. Unfortunately it does look like you've ordered the base version TNPA5335 repair kit. We do have a specific kit for the TNPA5335BJ so there are a few component differences there. Namely the components you received for Q421, 422, and 423 won't be usable for your board. The remainder of the components for the following locations will have no issues on your part and are identical between the different versions of these boards;

            Q401, 402, and 403
            D401
            D432
            R401, 402, 403, 421, 422, and 423
            IC502
            Q531

If Q421, 422, and 423 are necessary for your repair, unfortunately we would not be able to supply just those components for you."

So aparently the FGB20N60 is suitable to replace 30F131 in their ponion which i find suspect now.

So They dont take returns either Ever SC i have seen from these boards has the same RJP30H2A and GT30F131 IGBTs So why the different kids? Ebay sellers and so on sell one sku for all the SC boards. So why this tomfoolery?

Funny they asure me that the parts are suitable for Q401, 402, and 403, however thats the exact same part that blew on Pomeroys board after 2 hours.

Re: Yet Another TC-P55GT30 7 Blinking Light Error

Well this is what i got back,

"For Q401, 402, 403, 421, 422, and 423 we use FGB20N60SFD for the vast majority of the revisions of this board and they work with no issues on our in house repairs or with the majority of customers that purchase this kit for the correct version of the board.

For other versions, your TNPA5335BJ included, this replacement is not suitable for Q421, 422, and 423. The component we include in the specific kits where this is the case is RJP30H2A. You didn't receive this in the kit you purchase as it's the wrong kit per the suffix code for your board. Had you ordered the TNPA5335BJ kit specifically then all of the components you would have received would be suitable for replacement."

Guess i'll just source the proper parts, too bad ive ordered many things from shopjimmy in the past through work, no issues.

Just as a heads up to any one else, shopjimmy openly stated to me they use parts that do not seem to meet or exceed OEM specifications for their in house repairs and most of their kits.

I cant find anywhere that has RJP30H2A or FGD4536TM that isnt Ebay china....

So i have a spare SC that has to be repaired for this tv, since I cant return this kit i said F*** it and installed the IGBTs. put heatsyncs on them and am now running a 10h long youtube video that cycles full white, black and white bar sweeps on the screen see how long it lasts. so far the IGBTs are running at about 40 Celsius. TV is running.

                      Made it to the 2 hour mark with Q401, 402, 403, 421, 422, and 423 using FGB20N60SFD IGBT.

                      Temperature around 45C still.

Will see if it makes it to the end of this 10 hour video.

The temperature is not the issue!! Those parts from shop jimmy are NOT meant for that board , it might work for now but it won't last for a long period of time.
It's like carrying a 50KG suitcase. You will carry it for a few minutes and will drop it because its to heavy , SAME FOR THESE PARTS!!

                        FGB20N60 is the part --> 600V, 20A, 2.2V, TO-247

                        30F131 is the original --> 360V 200A / TO-220

The 30F131/RJP30H2A OR FGD4536TM are parts used for plasma panels , your replacement part is not designed for plasma panels.
The other user with the same part had the same , it worked but now its dead with a blown Q600 transistor + shorted resistors and probably more parts in that same area.

When i first started repairing these boards i had fake 30F131/RJP30H2A and it also worked sometimes for a few hours but then a huge bang and SAME shorted Q600+resistors. IF that part shop jimmy gave you was a good replacement for your board then TW2005 or Flocko would have suggested the same parts. Those guys are really experienced in tv repair and they don't use this part.

Trust me , you will be destroying a good board with these parts and trust me , its a real challenge to fix the damaged board. It won't be those 6 igbt's anymore.

Ps , i have said it before. You don't need to change those 7.5 ohm resistors + daf30A + RF1501 and no he did not have a dead buffer because that would result in different parts on the board that fail.

                        Your choice and your board.

Ps , i really get your point! It sucks that Shopjimmy says " Ah to bad , your own fault" They simply have WRONG repair kits and they don't want to help you. Whats so hard for them to just take the parts back and send the good parts.

Buy 6 FGD4536TM from RS/Mouser/Digikey and your board will work for a long period of time. I only use them and trust me , i had a lot of problems finding good parts.

Digi and mouser do not have stock in them, already took a look. Only place i can find them is on Ebay, from china which i don't trust. Figured id experiment with this. Wondering if the Pulse current ever gets anywhere close to 200A. As thats really the only concern about these, well that and they are not Plasma Display designed, Looks liek their application is arch welders and USP, and the types. Pulse on the FGB20N60 is 60A And collector current is 40A wich is 5A higher then the GT30F131.

I found a retailer in Canada that sells Kits for these, I emailed them asking what IGBT's they use.

Ok , hope you will find them. On eBay buy them from user "monitor-09" , those parts work perfectly. If you have trouble finding them then i can send you some if you pay the shipping cost. ( Stamps ). I got like 300+ haha.

Is it for a customer or for yourself?

I'm too curious not to try and blow this SC now, But i do have a spare that i can repair. I just find it curious that ShopJimmy stated they use these IGBTs on all their kits except my board and all their in house repairs and have no issues. Which leads me to believe that maybe the Peek current never gets any where near 200A and maybe 60A is ok. We have to admit ShopJimmy moves a fair bit of parts, and there are many users who have used them and their services no issue.

You got the same problem as Jeff has. If you have a scrap board then you can repair your own board. You need Q600 + resistors + other igbt's. Your board took a massive hit.
Also , if you look at the reply Jeff got they said he got the wrong repair kit and its his own fault.

Im pretty sure they dont know what they are selling.

In your case you need a new/repaired sc board.

I might try to repair the damage to the board I have. I got the TV for free so I can put a bit more money into it and still come out ahead. Hope the Q 600 and the resistor are the only additional parts that got smoked. I'll findo the other parts from a more reputable dealer. I may have more questions as I embark upon this task. That's for all the help so far.
