Re: Yet Another TC-P55GT30 7 Blinking Light Error

Thanks so much for the help Moreno83. I replaced the SC board after work today and the TV is back up running again. I forgot to get the updated screws from the place I bought the board so I will get them when I return my core. By the way, 5 of the 7 factory screws on the original SC board were very loose.

I would decline to run the tv at all until you get the screws with lock washers on, also be sure to resolder the ground pads on the back of the screw holes.

I get absolutely excited every time i get one of these tv sets as they are a Very VERY well built unit with the repairs and the picture quality is amazing. I have 4 years and counting on a set of the exact same model i repaired, And i just got a 50 inch of the same model for free with the same issues and i cannot wait to fix it and put it in my bedroom, replacing a modern LED lcd tv.

Thanks JeffJ. The set is running now. No getting it back from the kids once they saw it turn on. As far as the ground pads on the back of the screw holes, I used a board that was rebuilt by a local shop that specializes in audio/video components but I am not sure if they added any material to the ground pads or not. They were very familiar with the 7 blink code and stock all 3 of the related boards. I agree the picture quality is amazing. The only sets I remember looking slightly nicer, but not a better value, at the time I was shopping for this one were the Pioneer plasmas. Those Kuro sets were incredible and probably remained the holy grail until the OLED sets became relatively mainstream a couple of years ago.

The only reason i would decline to run it is because the SC board seems to resonate at a pretty high frequency, and it may end up depending on how many hours you put on it until the new screws witch lock washers come (or you go to a hardware store and purchase lock washers to install). The screws may back out enough to start blackening the solder ground pads on the back of the board on the screw holes again, as they do as it starts to ark a bit.

I should have them either tomorrow or Wednesday. As far as how I tested the buffer boards, either that way works or I got lucky. I do see more logic in the way you described though, as you're checking each line of output for a short.

Good job that you fixed it with a new board. The lock washer screws is just to be extra sure the board "won't" fail in the future. The panel is designed to play a minimum of 100.000 hours so if your happy with the tv make sure you get some extra parts as a mainboard before they disappear.

Anyways the normal screws will work also. Just make sure the ground pads on the back of the board are resoldered. They are probably black because of the arching.
Just tighten the original or lock washer screws on ALL boards. The SS board and C boards on the bottom will be loose also. I don't get it why they didn't tighten them from the beginning causing these problems.

I got a few repairs done with the original screws and these tv's are still running for a few years. Watch out with the lock washer screws. Some of panasonic lock washer screws will destroy the screw holes.

              Enjoy your tv!!

I'm new here just searching for some ideas. Been struggling with a 50 Panasonic myself and a faulty SC board. Swapped out parts with parts kit worked for 2 hrs the 2 loud pops and it went dead. Obvious resistor at R60 gone but no clue of value to replace. Also HD a transistor come loose from the board.

Then you probably used fake parts. Wat resistor blew? Resistor on the leftist of the big capacitors?

                  Please take some pictures.

R601 is the one I know blew. Q402 also up in smoke.

Yes those resistors and diode ( and probably more ) blow because of fake/bad parts. What's that part? ID20AK? Never heard of it.......

Where did you buy the kit??

                        FGB20N60 is the part --> 600V, 20A, 2.2V, TO-247

                        30F131 is the original --> 360V 200A / TO-220

Im not that good in reading those data sheets but thats a big difference. I don't think its a suitable replacement part for your board.

                          t0-220 wouldn't fit there ..
                          neither would a TO-247
                          more likely a TO-263
had a quick look at data sheets and was confusing ... igbt versus mosfets ... ..
just get genuine original parts .they are available .

You're in the states, use shopjimmy.com they ship repair kits and are reputable and vouched for by hundreds here.

You might be looking at a new sc board tho that could have blow a ton of stuff.

Where did you get that kit from though link us, so others know not to trust it.

You must have ordered the wrong kit then, that IGBT is not part of the kit for this model.

What link did you buy? post it.

I cannot find any listings at all on Amazon by ShopJimmy for repair kits.

Edit: I found them, didnt show in their listings when i browsed their shop

That is indeed the correct kit, that part that you replaced however, is not for the board, also i dont recall this kit suggesting to replace D604, i could be wrong tho.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                                            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                                            Hello friends,

I have this laptop AMD Platform starting & not posting, fan spinning.

When i press power button, the board get almost immediatly 0.5A ~ and board get stuck at 0.5A with power button led blinking indefinitly.
If i stop the computer (pressing 5s power button), board stop and when i restart i get approx 0.37A ~ and

I try to reflash the bios with no luck, same result, and i try disabling onboard ram (i remove resistors accordling schematic), no more progress.

CPU and his area heat, maybe the cpu is dead?

                                            Hi,
I have the above tv that just shows a red light blinking twice 5 times, i have taken the back off and all the capacitors seem ok,
When i disconnect the mainboard from the PSU all the led's light up blinking fast but as soon as i reconnect the mainboard back to the power supply i get the red light blinking again twice 5 times,
I have attached pictures of the Mainboard, PSU and a small video (zipped) showing what happens when i disconnect the lead from the psu
                                            Any help would be appreciated...
