Re: can anyone help me build something to test led strips

Depends on how many LEDs you have in series on the strip. Figure about 3.2 volts times the number of LEDs. Sometimes I just use three 9 volt batteries connected in series when I have 10 or 12 LEDs on a strip. If your intent is to test without opening the panel, also remember to test the current each strip pulls. A strip with a shorted LED will still light, but if the power supply is designed with overcurrent protection, it will cause it to shut down.

That would definitely work, though not as fun as building your own.

0~60V will be more useful for testing the LED strip up to the point.

Would there be a risk of over powering some strips with 60V or do they all use at least that much?

IMHO voltage sources are inappropriate for testing LEDs. I would build a 150mA current source.

Would it be possible to adapt the electronics used in 12/24V LED panels for RVs?

That power supply has adjustable CC mode, same for the 30V version, that is the key, you need to set the current limit.
If you have 30 White LEDs in series, 60V is not going to be able to light the LEDs.

Re: can anyone help me build something to test led strips

Here is another approach using a cheap LED inverter (US$15 - $20):

                      https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/th...pleboost.shtml
                      https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/th...continuous.png
                      https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...0c5ce1ce7a.pdf (DF6113 datasheet)

You could program the LED current via Rout1 and Rout2. Rout2 could be varied either by using jumpers or by way of a rotary switch.

The output voltage limit could be set by varying R2, or by adding a resistor in parallel.

The output power limit is determined by Rmos.

The IC's datasheet recommends a maximum output/input ratio of 5:1, so a 12V input should allow for a maximum boost voltage of 60V.

10mA would be more than useful for lighting up LEDs. You could design a boost converter to output say 300V at up to 10mA, with direct current limiting, and it would drive most LED strips.

Why have you started a new thread ? I gave you advice on how to build a small set up using two double A batteries in series. This little set up costs very little and works great.

Notes about the LEDs, some of those LED uses in the edge lit type strip are two LEDs in one package (two LEDs connected in series), so if it has 20 LEDs bodies, it actually has 40 LEDs so when you test it based on 3V per LED, the strip will not light with what you think the supply Voltage should be.

High Voltage adjustable power supply with current limit.
You can use two 6.3V filamen transformer hooked up back to back to give isolate 120VAc to supply rectified 170VDC for feeding the circuit.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                      Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

                                      Hi There!
I bought a broken 32" TV today. It has sound but no image. I checked with a flashlight and it was missing backlight
Disassembled down to the led strips and found this TV has been serviced before. Not sure if it was fixed, worked again for some time, and broke again, or maybe last repair wasn't successful

Looks like on previous repair, the center LED strip was replaced with a different model, 7 leds in it instead of 8, but when checking LEDS one by one, leds on the center strip were brighter with same test voltage (multimeter in DIODE mode) so maybe the...

                                      Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

test active pfc power with lamp test

                                      Hello
I have a big problem and that is that in some cases when repairing active pfc power supplies I cannot work with a test lamp. I can only get help with 5 volts standby and for starting and starting I have to work without a lamp and this way there is a possibility of parts exploding and other parts being added.
Sometimes with a multimeter test the problems can be reduced to some extent, but I had several cases that had to be tested on and online and recently two varistors exploded. They had terrible resistance because the power supplies were over 800 watts.
                                      Is there a way...
