hey bud m there also is an entry in on service menu sfcreen for serial # of tv ....not sure if it can be changed or not will try when i get time

update.....success....changed panel id in serv menu now tv works great display not upside down and perfect picture.......i learned a lot here...thanks budwich.....budm...freak...vince....aaron.....

yes....never would have guessed just a setting issue.....thanks to everyones input...it all helped find the solution....i think even some of you smart guys learned a little here lol

note....the model number and serial number entry seemed to not be changeable.in service menu.....it still says kdl-60ex645 with new panel id and does work.

so thats 2/3 tvs i saved that i just picked up ciuple weeks ago....1 more to go....the ocosmo 40 inch.....thought i had it fixed but hit another bump in road

but you didn't follow the advice from shopjimmy... you MUST reload the card. There are reasons for this.

what does reload the card mean?.....all i have been told to do was to update firmware per shop jimmy and my board was already update with current firmware version ......havent seen any instructions on how to reload the card

Glad to hear that it works.
So what panel ID did you put in? What is your panel sticker model number, maker?
BTW, you should take the screen shot of the setup pages since now you can see the clear pictures so we will have the reference for future repair when someone else has the same problem with the replacement board or if your setup goes bad in the future.

unfort i could not read the panel id choices in serv menu and i couldnt find a panel id on my tv ....i just randomly chose a diff panel id and it worked

nowhere on my tv inside did i see sharp with a panel id....

so you loaded the sony "software" up on a usb drive, connected the drive to the tv and "executed" it. That's what shopjimmy told you to follow AND that's what you "copied" into this thread on a previous entry.

hi budwich....yes i followed the instructions i pasted here per sony .............for updating software a couple days ago and it didnt need update so it aborted the process....the issue was not an update the issue was panel mismatch......shop jimmy needs to update their instructiins for changing this board and add verifying and changing panel id if needed..

here are some updated photos of tv now working..display is not upside down anymore and not solarized....looks great

and bud m here is a screen shot of serv menu after tv fixed

note:..in serv menu the model# and serial numbers do not match my tv but i was able to find a correct panel id which is shown on back of my tv

not sure if model# and serial number can be altered....it wouldnt let me click them in serv menu

so next time someone replaces a main board on the ex645 series sony lcd tvs just updating firmware may not work.....

you need to make sure the panel id in service menu matches so that the tv can operate as designed for the specific model with specific panel id

shop jimmy instructions are incomplete and needs to update their procedure to include this when replacing main board

i think 4...shop jimmt and other retailers who sell this board need to update their install procedure as it is glitched real bad......and not accurate......

which makes sense... 50 inch 46 inch 55inch 60 inch

all ex645 series im sure since the board is suppose to work with these models

it took me over 6 hours of my limited personal time spread between 3-4 days and numerous tv techs to finally solve the issue........and i proved the retailer/seller wrong the retailer kept telling me my panel was bad or my tcon was bad and all along it was his board that was the issue

just proves that common sense sometime overrides knowledge lol....and common sense is the tv panel and tcon worked perfect prior to hdmi port going bad and a bad hdmi port would not ruin a panel nor ruin a tcon......
