sony KDL-46EX645, ...standby light is on....will not power on..no clicks..nothing when power button is hit.....caps on ps look ok...

any help would be appreciated

Start with good clear pictures of the whole back side of the TV so we can see all the board, then good pictures of the whole power supply top and bottom sides, then around the connectors so we can see the labels for each pin.

here is a photo of the main board as you can see hdmi port is fried

i get a standby light but tv willnot power on...

the ps seems to have good voltages.....is the fried hdmi port the issue?

if so can i just desolder the hdmi port and see if that works?

my other ocosmo tv has the same exact issue.....fried hdmi port and standby light but will not power on

is this a common issue?

More than likely the hdmi ports were hot with a surge. They dont normally spontaneously blow up lol

The surge probably killed the fuses on the mobo and the main processor wouldn't surprise me. Probably best to get a new board as re-soldering hdmi ports and hdmi/cpu processors is very hard.

update just got replacement board

bad news....i need help

i installed and tv nowpowers on fine however all images on the screen is rotated 180 degrees...basically upside down even osd and the image is extremely solarized...looks weird....i have never seen this issue ...

the original board had a fried hdmi port and tv would not power on at all...it had standby but wouldnt power on


can anyone help me?

does the replacement mainboard match your old one ie all sticker numbers etc there maybe in the service menu a setting to flip the screen setting, also to alter lvds setting to stop the solarized picture, but im not 100% sure as never really messed with service menus and not sure how to get into it.

I don't know if Sony incorporate bitrate and LVDS technology into their service menu four different panels but you can certainly check. The service code to get in should be with the power off. Press display 5 vol up power.

just contacted retailer and he assured me board worked prior to removing from tv...so assuming thats correct....what could cause the solarization issue and display upside down.....

Maybe worth trying the software upgrade as budm suggests.

Agreed. I'm almost certain you've received a main board from a different screen size than yours. Some of the x645s have the t-con at the top of the TV and some have it at the bottom. I've seen both.
