Unfortunately Shopjimmy is located in Burnsville, Minnesota, United States and I am in Belfast, N.Ireland. I can't even gain access to the site due to my IP address.

No one else has worked on the set and there are 2 empty spaces in the connector. I just assumed that they were for perhaps for extra TV features which my TV didn't have. Also, I assumed that because when I hit the TV a sharp knock and it came on that those wires were unrelated. I'll try to get a clearer picture posted.

looking at the thread and picture i linked i think red should go to bri pin and black to err pin but please let budm comfirm after looking at both pictures as i dont want you damaging your boards but i have both pictures opened side by side and it looks like they go to those pins but i have no idea why they are not connected on your set.

I do not believe it came from the factory with wires hanging out like that, someone must have worked on this TV before.

It does look like Red goes to BRI, and the Black goes to the ERR pin.

Ok, will hopefully get them soldered on tonight if I can get some good lighting..

Heated the soldering iron & then pulled connector off only to discover that I cannot solder directly onto pin as otherwise the connector would be permanent.

Instead I stripped back a few millimeters & soldered the end to give it rigidity, pushed it onto block of switched it on. Unfortunately, still nothing.

ok maybe take the power supply right out and trace the pin thats 3.4 volts that appears when you tap the set trace this pin (pin 7) on the back of the power supply it maygo to a regulator mounted on a heat sink etc that maybe dry jointed and may need touching up with fresh solder etc as you say it works when you tap the set etc

I've already done that a couple of times but it's too hard to trace the printed circuit back and I'm unable to find it. I resoldered a few connections around the area but it didn't help.

I would solder to the pin on the bottom side of the board, then check the DCV on the BRI and on the ERROR pins to see what you have.

SORTED Re: LG 32LC46 Model 32LC46-ZC not turning on or showing any sign of life.

Removed the board and soldered the 2 cables on the back as budm suggested; no difference at all and incidentally no voltage either.

Started playing about with board moving pins etc and noticed that one the big capacitors (shown in attached image) moved more freely than the rest. Removed the board again and wiggled it about only to find the pin moving through the solder. Got it soldered up and it's now working fine.

Thanks to all especially budm. I never would have sorted it myself.

Hmm, that cap is for the STBY power supply filter cap.
I think if you remove those two wires (BRI, ERROR) you will again not have backlights.

I was very concerned about soldering them in but did so as you recommended, but when it made no difference I desoldered them, cut them clean & insulated the terminal ends.

That is strange then that the BRI control pin is not used, and the Error output is not used (this one may not be needed if error signal is not required). Unless there is another pin for Dimming control that I do not see on the inverter board.
But if it works, leave them wires off then. Do you have the P/N for the inverter board?

                                    Hello,

First of all im glad i've found this forum and i'm happy to start learning new things and sharing my knowledge with others!

Long story short : I have a laptop from work that has no power and no signs of life. My first question is: A 90W charger(19V 4.5A) is enough for this laptop? Because the original charger was 19V 6,4A(120W), so all the testing was done with the 90W charger because i don't have a 120W charger.

This being said, i opened up the laptop and i've inspected the MB and the components, everything seems fine, no sings of explosion, burn,...

                                    HI,

Have this set that does not respond to remote functions. It is either bricked or main faulty as the power supply is on and mainboard supplies seem present. I have noticed the red light from the digital audio out.

This is an android on a vestel main board 17MB171

                                    Regards,

I have this board, power button light on only when pressing power button, no fan spinning, nothing else.

                                    I mesure those signals:
                                    • ON/OFF# react normaly
                                    • EC_RSMRST# 1.69V
                                    • RTC_CLK missing
                                    • PBTN_OUT# 3V when plug power but stay stuck at 0V after pressing button
                                    • PM_SLP_S5# PM_SLP_S3# SYSON all missing...
I have a doubt on the cristal YC1, i see 1.77V on pin 2 and only 0.64v at pin 1 with a dirty oscilation fluctuating between 4 and 25khz
                                    Cristal YC2 have 0.86V on both pin 1 & 3 with a clean oscilation at 48Mhz.

                                    Any help please ?

                                    Hello:

I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.

                                    I started on the ACER:

Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.

I followed the videos from Sorin, Electronics Repair School on Youtube heating from the bottom to install. I practised on around 10 scrap...
