    Vizio vt420m sound issue

The above TV will work OK for a while, 10-60mins or so. Eventually, it will develop
+ an issue with sound where the sound seems to get broadcast twice kind of like an echo. The issue will slowly build up worse and worse. At these times I also see a slight flickering of the video but otherwise the video seems fine. I see on this refurbished main board there is some brown discoloring on the audio header (and the plastic looks slightly melted). Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue? I've checked the power coming from the power supply board and all lines looked right from there.

    Image attached.

    Thanks.

Additional tests, tried different sources/inputs with same issue on all.

      Re: Vizio vt420m sound issue

someone had either changed or resoldered U409. I can't see the numbers on it, but looks like it could be the audio IC. That's where the discoloring came from.

Edit: 402WP = EEprom. So it had a EEprom replacement.

So you already replace the main board, right? What was the original problem with the old board? At this point the power supply will not cause echoing sound problem, that will be something in the sound processor section.

              Re: Vizio vt420m sound issue

The original problem with the set was the picture would start to get some artifacts over time and the system would eventually reboot itself. I sent the board in for swap/repair (it was swapped for a rebuilt board). The video seems OK now but the audio is having issues. I noticed the brown smoke mark on the audio header and was of course curious about it. No caps appear bad on the main board or the power board.

Anything I can try to check with a meter or pics I can take to try to help troubleshoot?

That CN403 is not connected to audio circuit.
Show us the pictures of the whole back side of the TV.
I think the board you got has problems, i hope it is still under warranty.

I have always had this same sound problems with my vt420M, mine happens more when I am playing a dvd. About 34 minutes into it it stars with the sound stuff. Now I have no sound but everything else works great. I'll not hijack this tread with that problem, just confirming a similar problem as this guy.

Is u409 the eeprom chip as stated above. I've always thought U405 was the eeprom on these? It's a 48 pin TSOP chip NAND128W3A2BN6. I know it's what typically has the panel manufacturer sticker on it and can be swapped between boards to change what panel they will work with. I wasn't trying to hijack the thread either but if U409 is the eeprom I'd prefer to change that when I get one in that's stuck on the Vizio logo screen. Several models use this board.

                      Dear Electronics Experts:

I have the following problem I am trying to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, I have contacted Anthem themselves and even a local distributer but I am not having much luck. Also, I have scoured the internet and unable to obtain a service manual. The Anthem service rep has also replied that he is unable to provide me with any service documentation. I have performed numerous searches on the internet and cross-referenced a few other AV receiver makers (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo) and found certain similarities to block diagram...

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

                      Hello mates,

I bought this subwoofer a few days ago used and blind and it works erratically, as far as I could see, it has been tampered with, the speaker is not the original one and of 8 Ohm when it should be of 4, and there are some welds like reworked by the boards.

It doesn't have much power (expected more from it) and it distorts if you increase the volume over the middle, maybe it's because of the high impedance of the speaker. The problem is that it has sound when it wants, the led panels all work correctly, you can hear the power relay on power on, but right now...

                      Vizio m601d-a3 backlight issue
                      by Mectronik
Hello, I'm working on a Vizio m601d-a3 with a backlight issue that I am having a difficulty diagnosing it. As it sits, the tv powers on, displays the Vizio symbol and with nothing hooked up it will then display no signal but you can only see half of the screen. I know it's a back light issue because the picture is there without light behind it, as I can see it by doing a light test. I've taken off the paneling and done a visual inspection. If I disconnect the tcon ribbon cable to the affected side then the entire half of the screen goes away. I've checked voltages at the LED driver from the main...
