    HDMI Headscratcher Hannspree 37" YTO8

I am having a problem with the HDMI socket on my Hannspree 37" YTO8 TV.

I have been connecting my pc to the HDMI without problem for the last couple of years now it suddenly comes up with "No signal".
Nothing in the pc has changed and I have tried a laptop also without success.
I have checked all the settings on both the pc and laptop and changed cables. Both computers fail to detect the TV as a monitor.
I have tried another HDMI monitor and it connects fine and I tried a different video card in the pc a few weeks ago with no luck.
Tonight I reinstalled Win 7 from scratch with no updates and the original video drivers just in case an update had buggered something, no luck.
If I plug my BT Vision box or my DVD into the same socket it works OK.

What other steps can I take to troubleshoot?
Is it possible that the HDMI socket on the tv is faulty to the extent that it will not accept a signal from a computer but will from a BT Vision box or a DVD Player? If so what is the solution?
BTW, I have turned everything off at the wall for 15 mins, disconnected and reconnected without any joy.
I have tried (and failed) to find a factory reset code for the TV.
    Thanks,
    Mike

May be the socket, solder joints at the socket, the HDMI IC had failed, or may be the Voltage feeding it is no longer there.

      Thanks budm,
What would the first step for me to verify the problem?
Take the back of the set and see if there is anything obvious?
I'm no tv repairman but I'm pretty good with pc repairs.
      Thanks,

Look at the main board where the HDMI port is, there is should an IC close by.

          Thanks bud,
I'll have a look this evening.
Not sure what I'm looking for but I'll take a photo.
BTW, is there any voltage risk with this set, obviously I'll have it switched off and unplugged at the wall
          Cheers,
          Mike

If you only deal with the main board, you should be OK. Just don't touch the power board, at all.

              OK, got the backoff alright
The hdmi port is inside a silver box casing alomg with other stuff (see pics)
              The port seems tight enough
I'm a beginner here, what do I do next
              Thanks,

You need to remove that shield.

sorry just re read post 1 and saw that see if you can find the mainboard numbers it maybe used in other sets so you can probably use the factory reset code from another make of tv.

                            did you try this
                            Turn the TV on.
Press the {-/--} {9} {9} {1} buttons on the remote.
The Service Menu will be displayed.
To change pages, press the {MENU} button then
                            the {-/--} {9} {9} {1} buttons again.
Press the {EXIT} button to exit the Service Menu.

or if your tv has buttons on the top try this
power on the tv, hold down the right two buttons (CH UP & Enter) on top of the TV then press the Power Button

Vince, the buttons are on the bottom of the set.
I cant take the thing apart again till tomorrow but I do remember a couple of the chips were Samsung.
PS, where would the name of the mainboard be?

I have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.

                                          Connection as below:
                                          Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.

I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
                                          3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port

                                          I replaced all...

With a setup including a TV and AV receiver where HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and Audio Return Channel (ARC) functions were working, these two functions stopped working after changing some connections (not the one between the AV receiver and TV), so I believed it was a corrupt setting in the AV receiver or TV, but when I disconnected a passive DisplayPort-HDMI cable (which a Multimode DisplayPort connector supports HDMI with a low cost passive cable or adaptor) connected to a home theatre PC, HDMI CEC and ARC functionality was restored.
An examination of the HDMI CEC wiring...

I have this TV hooked up to only an AppleTV 4K and a Creative soundbar. Originally HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC wouldn't work at all, I replaced all the HDMI cables with decent UGREEN cables meeting the latest standards, now it all works perfectly but once or twice a day the TV itself reboots while watching a program, the AppleTV keeps running. I haven't fully pinned down whether it is ARC or CEC causing it yet. All are running latest firmware.

I assume it is just HDMI-CEC being buggy as usual on a shitty Vestel machine, but can anyone think of anything I can try before disabling it?

LG LCD TV picture comes on intermittenly using hdmi port. The sound is on permantly. The hdmi ports looks fine and soldered in securely. The 3.4v coming to the main board is not present(not sure if will affect the hdmi port or where that voltage goes.)The hdmi cable is fine because it works on another tv.The ceramic caps connected to the hdmi controller ic is reading 39 ohms.Could the hdmi controller ic be faulty(feels very warm to touch). The RCA jacks work normally .Thank you in advance for your assistance..

                                          Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts

I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...
