My Hannspree 37" YT08 has started showing the menu randomly, sometimes every few seconds.
I have of course taken the remote out of the equation simply by removing the batteries.
It also will not respond to the buttons on the set itself sometimes.
I had a quick word with Hannspree support who seems to think it could be the mainboard - I'm not too sure (I don't think the guy I spoke with was an engineer)
How do I troubleshoot this?
I've already replaced the TV but it seems a pity to dump the Hannspree it if I can sort out a fix.

Re: Hanspree gone mad
Hi mate,
I presume mean clean the buttons internally (they don't appear to be sticking externally) Do I use a fluid of some type?
Thanks

If it sounds like a quick fix I'll have a go at fixing it but if not I'll get a new set.The Hannspree is 8 years old and done it's job pretty well.

Re: HDMI Headscratcher Hannspree 37" YTO8
Vince, I may give that a go, is there a way to find the exact model of the motherboard without taking the back off my TV again?
It's killing me bad back...

Re: HDMI Headscratcher Hannspree 37" YTO8
Replacing the mainboard is an option although I've never done one before (but plenty of pc mainboards under me belt)
Vince, what do you think of this as a solution?

None of those worked Vince, I may just get a new telly.
Thanks for taking the trouble,
Mike

Re: HDMI Headscratcher Hannspree 37" YTO8
Vince, the buttons are on the bottom of the set.
I cant take the thing apart again till tomorrow but I do remember a couple of the chips were Samsung.
PS, where would the name of the mainboard be?Last edited by spottydog10; 09-16-2015, 12:08 PM.

I have tried (and failed) to find a factory reset code for the TV.
If anybody knows it...??
Thanks,
Mike

OK, got the backoff alright
The hdmi port is inside a silver box casing alomg with other stuff (see pics)
The port seems tight enough
I'm a beginner here, what do I do next
Thanks,
Mike...

Re: HDMI Headscratcher Hannspree 37" YTO8
Thanks bud,
I'll have a look this evening.
Not sure what I'm looking for but I'll take a photo.
BTW, is there any voltage risk with this set, obviously I'll have it switched off and unplugged at the wall
Cheers,
MikeLast edited by spottydog10; 09-15-2015, 07:59 AM.

Re: HDMI Headscratcher Hannspree 37" YTO8
Thanks budm,
What would the first step for me to verify the problem?
Take the back of the set and see if there is anything obvious?
I'm no tv repairman but I'm pretty good with pc repairs.
Thanks,
Mike

HDMI Headscratcher Hannspree 37" YTO8
I am having a problem with the HDMI socket on my Hannspree 37" YTO8 TV.
I have been connecting my pc to the HDMI without problem for the last couple of years now it suddenly comes up with "No signal".
Nothing in the pc has changed and I have tried a laptop also without success.
I have checked all the settings on both the pc and laptop and changed cables. Both computers fail to detect the TV as a monitor.
I have tried another HDMI monitor and it connects fine and I tried a different video card in the pc a few weeks ago with no luck.

Re: Fix worked
Haha, thanks everyone.
I must admit to putting a towel over the screen the first time I switched on.
Cheers all,
Mike

Fix worked
I replaced the caps in the monitor today and all worked straight away.
A big thanks to everyone for the help (I didn't have a clue what I was doing)
Just a cowardly question, it cant blow up or electrocute me if I made a bad joint somewhere or replaced the wrong cap can it?
Cheers,
Mike...

Dear marishium,
Kindly don't act like an arse.
Thanks,

Re: caps?
I ordered the new caps today (see attached).
I noticed that the lifetime @105 was 2000 hours.
Is that quite short or is it only theoretical at that temperature?
I've desoldered the caps for replacement.
If I make a mess of the job i.e. sloppy soldering can I actually make the monitor dangerous or blow up or something?
Thanks,
Mike...
