    Sanyo ce32hw T-con cable rotten

I have to admit that I find it difficult to walk past something potentially useful in a bin/skip WHY. In this case it was an old Sanyo CE32HW (Vestel) LCD set someone had thoughtfully left sticking out of the appliance disposal bin in the local shopping centre.
It's clearly had a hard life, but so evidence of ever having been repaired before.
I powered it up and was rewarded with nice clear sound, backlight, but no picture.
A quick look inside revealed a few swollen cap's on the power supply panel- replacing those made no difference, which didn't come as much of a surprise really. (the remaining ones checked OK on a ESR meter).
Having read of a similar problem on another thread I decided to have a look at the T-con panel, skilfully hidden away between the metal panels. And there was the cause of the problem, clear to see. For some reason all the insulation on the last inch or so of the cable from the main board to the T-con board had disintegrated, leaving the bare wires to touch each other.
I haven't yet got around to 'repairing' the cable, it will have to wait until I am really bored and have nothing more useful to do with my time. Plus of course the possibility that some of the shorting wires may have caused damage to the main board???
Has anyone seen this before, or have any explanation as to why this may have happened? There is no evidence of water or any other fluid- just the heat off the back of the display perhaps?

I have seen this before on vestel's when I put the incorrect main board that was for a different panel into the set it burnt the lvds to a crisp like yours. Is the mainboard the correct one for the panel used ?

If the mainboard was damaged it wouldnt power on at all. This is just a bad cable but it looks like it got burned heavily.... :o

I would not repair this cable , just get a new one from ebay for 5$.
I wouldnt be surprised if the T-con is damaged also.....

It can happen on any tv and you are wrong the mainboard will power on I have had it where the section the powers the lvds burns up due to being in a incorrect panel but the rest of the tv would still power on.

Also you cant just use any lvds not on these vestels you need to get the exact lvds for the ce32hw if you get a ce32ld81-b it wont work as you HAVE to get everything that drives the panel correct.

Re: Sanyo ce32hw T-con cable rotten

I am pretty sure the correct boards are fitted (assuming Vestel got it right??), as I do not think the set has ever had any attention- going some for a Vestel of this vintage!
I hadn't thought of the t-con being damaged, as it is 'after' the event, but of course power could have been applied to the wrong pins due to the lack of insulation. Really wondering if it's worth wasting any more time on it, what's it worth at the end of the day? But I do enjoy tinkering so it'll probably happen one day!
I will post back with the results- even if the boards end up in the panel cemetary!

I would normally, but where I live (Portugal) the shipping cost is usually prohibitive, especially for small, low-value items. It would be different if the set was worth anything (or if it was a paying job!) but as it's a play thing... you know the rest!

I don't think it can be repaired, areas of the connector shell are melted and contacts have been damaged. I would be surprised to not find similar heat damage to the connector it mates with. I'd toss the whole thing.

                      It is a 17MB15E-7.

I had a quick check around the t-con board, on of the tiny CP's (CP101) is o/c.

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
                        by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

                        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                        by netgearnetgear
Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...

                        by Daren87
                        Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...
