    Polaroid P28LED13

    Hi all,
I stumbled across this forum while trying to work out if it is worth trying to get my daughters TV repaired or just buy a new one and thought I would ask your expert opinions?
The set is a Polaroid P28LED13, the problem is that when you try to turn the set on the red light on the front just keeps on flashing, previously the after a minute or so the screen would flash and the red light would go solid but now all it does is flash.

I have changed one capacitor that I thought may be the problem as it looked like it had a slight bulge on the top but this did not work (small blue one on the pic).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as my daughter is doing my head in complaining that she is missing all sorts of weird programs?

Just realised I have put this in the wrong forum, any chance one of the mods can move it to the Troubleshooting TVs and Video Sources forum please?

if you have a meter, check the big diodes on that board.

Sorry, don't have a meter. I was thinking of taking the board into a store and asking them to check it for me.

Flashing standby led on these sets normally means that the firmware on the main board is corrupt and will need reflashing.

Sounds like a plan Reecey; I assume I need to download the latest firmware, pop it on a usb and put it into the usb on the set. No doubt there will be some pesky menu that I will have to access to start the process off?
Any advice will be very much appreciated.

It is a pain to preform and find the corect software version, you have to get the exact model of main board correct (the numbers on the bar code) I dare say Tom66 will be on here in a min, he is probably the best on the forum.

I would at least get the meter to check power supply Voltages first, incorrect or missing Voltages will not do any good.

"previously the after a minute or so the screen would flash and the red light would go solid but now all it does is flash. "

So it got progressively worse. This doesn't sound like a firmware problem then to me...
The crappiest meter on ebay costs around $5.

This TV looks like a cheap model, surely not worth it to have someone repair it for you.
Buy your daughter a new TV or tell her to do something else, watching TV isn't good anyway. :-D

Sorry never used this forum before so I think I posted incorrectly. hardyz2. Did you ever manage to sort your TV my son has the same model and it has the same fault. Asda are not interested as out of the 12month warranty, annoyingly it is 16 months old.

                    Thanks

Does your set have the flashing red light problem?
