42LG50 Red Tint and Dim Screen

I have a 42LG50-UA tv. When I turn the TV on, the image is good for about 30 seconds. The image then becomes increasingly saturated with red and slightly dim. Images look coarse and the problem is especially apparent in skin tones. I have a multi-meter but my experience with electronics is limited.

And a picture of the T-con board will help (top of TV usually, connected to the main A/V board, which is in your 1st picture)

Re: 42LG50 Red Tint and Dim Screen

I tried to capture the fault in the image with these pictures from the TV. The ones labeled correct were taken from my phone and the ones labeled fault were taken from the TV set. I also took a couple pictures of screen test images on my TV. The screen test pictures I found online and projected to my TV; they are not from the TV menu as I could not find any there. To my untrained eye, the test screen pictures looked good.

That looks like Gamma Voltages problem on the T-CON board, U7 is AS15??

Thank you for the help budm. Is "U7 is AS15" a reference to a bad processor chip? Do you have a link to show the replacement of a T-CON board with similar connectors?

AS15 is the GAMMA Voltage reference IC.
Your T-CON board P/N is 35-D023305 as printed on the bar code sticker.
                http://www.shopjimmy.com/cmo-35-d023305-t-con-board.htm
Please verify the numbers since your pictures are not in focused.
You can also check the DCV of the Gamma Voltage test point #1~17 with reference to chassis GND.

14 Says yes the Gamma IC is bad.

Yes budm that is the correct part#

Replace T-con or if you are handy with a soldering iron or have a Hot Air station you can change the IC

Thanks to everyone who helped. @newtothis I ordered a new board. My hand isn't steady enough for soldering.@tom66 I read another thread you started on a different forum about the AS15 and AS19 ICs going bad. I have the AS19-H1G IC. I don't know if these events are related but my house was hit by a power surge which destroyed a couple battery chargers I had plugged in. That was about the same time the problem in my TV started. The TV is 6 years old. @newtothis are there any tips for replacing the T-CON board? Again, this is the first TV I have ever attempted to repair. I did read the manuals posted by budm.

I think the failures just "happen", and there's little you can do to prevent it.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                            Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...

                            by ipatch
i have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...
