Re: Bad Manners:No follow up
I used to feel bad when I worked in IT because I had gotten to a level where I could consistently figure out complicated issues on my own. Issues that many others were having given all the forum posts etc I ran across. It was so fast paced that I felt like I never had the time to go back and post my fix for others to find. When judgment day comes, my soul will be banished to the depths of hell.Comment

Re: Bad Manners:No follow up
I always like to give a full detail of the symptoms and the repair. When its not reported its just plain rude. To me I think that people that don't give thanks or the solve or find in the issue are the ones who don't get very far in life always looking for the easy way.
I mean hell I even tell people when I have to take a Dremel and grind into a panel to solve the problem even though I end up sounding retarded believe me I would try to help in any way possible.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

I would like to see a repost on this issue every so often because many times I look up and follow a thread and ended up on a dead end .Comment

Re: Bad Manners:No follow up
remember new posters, without follow up, a lot less things get fixed, and the least you can do is post pictures good clear pictures.Comment

Re: Bad Manners:No follow up
if you wonder why you got no reply its probably because you didnt take a few minutes to read the stickies at the top of the list, which people took a lot of time and effort to post, and dont forget FIRST RULE POST GOOD CLEAR PICS. AND TRY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.Comment

Re: Bad Manners:No follow up
I understand not posting pics atleast not as the first thing, even in 2015 not everyone has a good camera. Especially in this time of the year, there is very limited daylight.
Also I believe in many cases when there is no follow-up the poster didn't end up repairing the TV or taken a break from repairing / troubleshooting it.
Personally I have about 10-15 TV's waiting for repair (all my own, I don't do customer repairs), and I pick one when I'm bored and have nothing else to do. It is just a hobby at the moment. If I can't find the problem I usually set it aside for a while and continue at a later time, and that has often helped.
But yeah, not posting a follow up after the repair is not nice. It is easy to forget too. Many people have done mistakes (no follow up, no pics, etc), and many people will make mistakes in future. Sadly it is human nature. No offence, but even you have done it:

Re: Bad Manners:No follow up
It would be a thoughtful gesture to indicate when taking a break from or abandoning a project so that those following and trying to help you think about it would know to move on and not bother about it.Comment

by DAVEMAC02Follow up to my op amp diagram of Q208 FET and IC204 for NJM 2068M op amp. I took took the following DCV readings on the Q208 (2SK246) and IC204 pins:
pin 1 0v, pin 2, 0v, pin 3 0v, pin 4 -15.6v, pin 5 0v, pin 6 .08, pin 7 0v, pin 8 +15.9v
Q208 source -.006, gate -15.5v, drain -.102. These readings are from the op amp Q208 that has no output on pin 1. I don't know what state ie (On or Off ) Q208 should be when op amp is working correctly. This circuit is on the filter/limiter stage of the PA system. Any help is appreciated. Thanks-

by leggLG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.
Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V
Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....11-18-2021, 11:49 AM -
by quicknameI'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.
Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.
I decided to verify that the batteries were... -
by TrumanHWThe EBC-820 relies on the J6100 interface (its unclear if it works on 2018+ either, which'd negate any real value).
IF it does 'debug' issues on newer units, the video shows it providing error codes and 'breadcrumbs' to follow & fix identified issue(s).
Is this a gimmick for suckers (like me)..? Are there better products that are also affordable...?
Lastly, does anyone have suggestions on how to learn how to follow the schematic // boardview to trace problems..? Because even when watching the video it was unclear how certain selections... -
by HondamanCan I use an external keyboard with a modern (as of this post) laptop from, say, Dell?
I am worried about durability because I am a cheap, frugal person. I suspect an external keyboard would extend the life of the laptop. I have always been a desktop person, since my AMD 386DX-40, and I really don't know about laptops (though the current Dell products look like they are fanless, which eliminates a big failure point).
(Also I prefer the "clicking" "Unicomp" keyboard, which is still made an hour or two away from me in Lexington KY, using the same equipment...-
