    Bad Manners:No follow up

All these Great people, taking time to help folks fix their products, and so many, just never reply back, that they either fixed it or trashed it, is just BAD MANNERS, and frankly it p!sses me off.

having a bad day? I expect little back, that way I'm never disappointed. This may be an off topic / lounge subject but I know what you mean. without closure you don't know if the advice was valid or not.

read plenty of threads thinking it's going to have a solution that helps only to hit a dead end.

        Re: Bad Manners:No follow up

I have learned alot from this Forum. I try to help anyone that needs help. It's good to know if it fixed it. On sets that I can't fix and give up on I try to post it as so. I have some sets that are given because customer decided to buy a new set. There are a lot of smart experienced people here and I am very happy for anyone that has tried to help. Alot of time I do a search and look before I make a new post. IF I find the answer should I post it on a older post? Thanks Guys

Yes feel free to post solutions in older threads as they are already indexed by Google and they will appear first when somebody is searching for that particular issue.

for sure, it will probably help a lot of people, when you post on an old post, it's seen as a new post, and is bound to help someone.

good point, expect little back, it's the dam curiosity that kills me, you know?, like was wrong with that tv, it's like every time alex trebeck asks the final jeopardy question, the show just ends there, with no answer.

for sure, I would just say, well I give up, or I give up for a while but I'll never leave you good folks hanging, wondering if a solution worked.

Actually, what I hate about it is when it's taken an hour or two using search to try and unearth a similar fault, find it, read 3, 4, 5 pages, gets juicy and looks like it's on track for a fix and................................. nothing, no follow up

There is no more satisfaction to have such a problem and figuring it out yourself and post it! Feels goooooooooooooooooood!

Worst is, 2 years ago someone posted "I solved the issue", but they never said how, and that's the only post you can find. I'm pretty sure there's a special place in hell for people who do that.

For some reason that is stuck in my mind too... can't remember what I was looking for, but someone had said he fixed it, but didn't say how he did it.

Is that even worth going back, finding the thread, only to put in "I fixed it?" At least with a link like this I get a good laugh.

The follow-up thing is kind of annoying but what's most annoying is people who don't read the rules before making posts!

I agree. When I get a new project, my first stop is often here to see if anyone has already solved a particular issue. I can't tell you how many times I've read 5 or 10 pages to get nothing. And many of the regulars here spend a lot of time tracing out circuits, and expect nothing more than a thank you at the end. Almost everything I know about TVs and electronics is thanks to this forum. And I am grateful. Another thing I like to do is just post data that, had it been available, would have made it easier for me to fix a problem.

Imagine if this was a diy biology forum:

"Ok found the cure for cancer and as a happy by-product the 'fountain of youth'. Thanks for your help everybody !"

Tools. Should have posting priveliges suspended for that shit.

                                          Inverting op amp follow up
                                          by DAVEMAC02
Follow up to my op amp diagram of Q208 FET and IC204 for NJM 2068M op amp. I took took the following DCV readings on the Q208 (2SK246) and IC204 pins:
                                          pin 1 0v, pin 2, 0v, pin 3 0v, pin 4 -15.6v, pin 5 0v, pin 6 .08, pin 7 0v, pin 8 +15.9v

Q208 source -.006, gate -15.5v, drain -.102. These readings are from the op amp Q208 that has no output on pin 1. I don't know what state ie (On or Off ) Q208 should be when op amp is working correctly. This circuit is on the filter/limiter stage of the PA system. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
