    Viewsonic N3252W Power Issues

My N3252W has decided it finally wanted to start giving me problems. A few days ago it blew a few capacitors (six to be exact) in the power supply and stopped turning on. I went ahead and replaced the caps and it started working again. Well, it worked for two days at least.

Not long ago the screen flickered and then went black, but unlike last time there are no popped caps. Whenever I hit the power button the light turns green, then off, then back to red ready to do the cycle over again. I should also note that the red standby LED flickers a little (it doesn't turn off, just dims occasionally).

So, does anybody have an ideas as to what this latest issue is?

Replace ALL caps in the secondary - those that haven't failed are probably in the process of doing so. Then it might not hurt to replace the smaller ones in the primary while your at.

You should be using good quality caps from a known good seller - radioshack ones are generally not up to it.
Usually recommend panasonic FR FM & FC in that order (not all sizes are available in all series.

So just to clarify, you think my problem may still be capacitor related? Assuming the problem continues after replacing all of the caps on the power supply, are there any other components on that board that could be the culprit with these symptoms?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
            by PantherDave
            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

            Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
            Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
            Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
            Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

            Original NES power issues
            by sli4
I recently turned on my old NES to find the red light won't go on at all. When powered on it shows black bars on the tv and a loud buzz through the tv speakers. Powering it off, the buzz goes away and tv goes back to normal (white snow).

I tested the power supply itself and it is outputting 9V as it should - first two solder joints on the board at the power port show the same.

Here's where it starts getting funky - When powered on, one side of the 7805 voltage regulator is showing 18V and the other is about 8.7V (center 0).

On the big blue connector I get...
