    You were right MAGIC..

Not sure why that pin is getting so hot but it melted the new solder and then the pin (lead) pushed itself out of the capacitor.

I am having trouble finding the replacement on the net. Is one brand better than another or should I look for OEM replacement and use PILKON?

Attached top view of the burn and the bottom.

    Steps for repair?

1.) Remove bad capacitor - Find replacement (where to purchase?)
2.) Clean board in damaged area with alcohol swabs
3.) Solder new capacitor in place - (Is there a certain grade solder to use that can withstand this residual heat?)

you got it! use flux too. try Digikey or Mouser for parts. Silver Solder has a higher melting point than the regular stuff, if you wish to use it. make sure all the black stuff is GONE!

        Thanks CapLeaker..

I see the 1600v but not sure on all the other stuff? Do I search for mmkv 384 or 56n?

Seems to be a hard cap to find. Both Mouser and Digikey did not have and would be back ordered 7+ weeks.

          ordered - http://www.digikey.com/product-searc...88?k=BC2000-ND

Just in case someone else out there needs the same part. Only difference is the lead spacing is 22.5mm on Pilkor and these are 27.5mm. I will have to bend each lead in slightly in order to fit. Keep you posted..

          Thanks!

Got the new part finally. I had to first clean the board and have attached the before and after pictures.

I was suprised when I opened the new Capacitor from the package. The leads were very small and I knew it would not fit so I had to get a little creative. I am not sure if this is the correct method but was worth a shot sincce the OEM part is 8 weeks back ordered. I took the lead clippings from one of the new caps 3300uf and soldered it to the lead as an extension so I could make the new cap fit into the board. Please give me some advice if this was the wrong method in the event I come across this again in the future.

Finally I installed the PSU and tested. I was very happy when the unit powered up correctly and I was a little nervous as to doing the IMAGE CLEANER setting again. Would it get too hot and melt my solder extension? I realized I couldn't have a screen name as Tester_Matt and not test the damn thing so I fired it up and let it run for about 45 seconds. No smoke and no smell. All is good and if something happens again... I know where to go for advice.

                Thanks Magic and Bad Caps!

If yours does not click twice then there might be other caps to replace.
This has been a very helpful discussion - thank you all.

I have replaced several caps (annotated in the attachment), when I plug the ac cord in, it seems like both relays are clicking at the same time. All voltages are good except Vs about 2V and Va around 0.7v.

Which caps should I look at now - if any? Is there another component I should be looking at? I have pulled both relays, tested them the reinstalled.

                    Thanks for the help!

                      by gavric
Hello, i am working on Vizio M70-C3. It can hardly power on, it takes 15 power button presses or remote. Seems like eeprom problem that I seen before but all reading online says that this tv has power board or main board problem.

When tv powers on vizio V logo shows nice on whole screen. picture 1
When it goes into tv mode it only shows good picture on left side of screen, right is all scrabbled up. pic 2
When i start youtube picture shows on left side fine, right is all scrambled. pic 2
When i click video to start playing picture goes black(like when you change...

Vizio P502ui-B1E power light turns on, but no picture
                      by nsab6464
                      Hey guys,
I have a Vizio P502ui-B1E with no display activity at all with the power light on. It broke in a very specific way, and now exhibits strange behavior when turned on (slow response to power off command, restarts every 90 sec, more below), so I'm hoping that someone with experience working on this TV can point me in the right direction.

I already tried the 2 most common fixes with no luck:
                      - Replacing the T-Con board.
                      - Re-flashing the firmware on the U202 chip (from here: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=840012)

                      Here's exactly...

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
                      by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...
