HI

i have a sharp lcd tv 60 inch....backlight comes on but no sound and no display

i took back off and power supply voltages test good....fuse on tcon is good...on the main/input board there is an orange light that blinks.....its solid when plugged in and not powered on...but when powered on it blinks


when powering tv on you can hear a click sound like most tvs...

i have to assume this is a bad main board since there is no sound...but would like some input

the main board for this tv is impossible to find and very very expensive which tells me its a common problem and there is only 1 on ebay....normally that means its a very common issue and more than likely this issue here....

if anyone has any info please let me know

Does the front panel led flash any type of code?

no

the front stabdby light works and when powered on it goes to blue and tv powers on...with no display or sound ...just backlight comes on

no blinking at all

If there is a good sound ...you should check backlight system.

did you try shining a flashlight on the screen to see if you see video?

"fuse on tcon is good" so what DC voltage do you get at the fuse?

hi

unfortunaltey the fuse is located on the bottom of the board surface mount so checking it for voltage will be difficult....but i do get 12v from ps connector to tcon which tests good

i can say that it seems the panel is 100% not powering on at all.....sound works.....i can hit input button on side and it switches input although i cant see but i keep doing it until i get sound from input source being used so that tells me the menu is functioning.....the front power light is green which is normal i get no blinking codes...standby light works fine....im not a technician but to me it seems the mainboard is functioning ok....and it just seems the panel is not powering on...........

if i can somehow test the fuse v on bottom that would tell me that if v is good then mainboard is good? and tcon is bad?

You need to see if you get 12V at both ends of the fuse, but if the fuse did tested good with < 1 Ohms, then you need to look at other Voltage on the T-CON test points since there will be Voltage regulators and switching power supply on the T-CON board with various for the T-CON to operate.
Is it one of those integrated T-CON on the panel?
Pictures of the whole backside of the TV will help us.

hi i did test the fuse with board out of tv and its good

also i do get 12v coming from power supply to tcon board

the fuse is located on bottom of board so only way i could test without rigging something up would be to remove panel ribbon cables from tcon and unscrew board and flip over and power on tv and then check....

the tcon cables to panel can be taken off board ,,,im at work now cant take any pics

hi budm...i know you are a highly skilled person but im not

im not looking to repair board i would just like to know if this is a tcon issue or main issue so i can buy the correct board...not sure what good it would do by testing test points on the tcon since im only worried about voltages coming in....and not voltages within the tcon right?........can i test for voltage coming from main to tcon? and if there is good v then that means tcon is bad correct?

like i said i do get 12v coming from ps to tcon......

update...as said before i am getting 12v from ps to tcon.....just checked other power cable from main to tcon and am getting.3.3 v on all the grey wires...4or 5 of them........im still thinking tcon..bad...????

update

not good news i dont think....got the replacement tcon today and installed it and the display does some weird things....it goes from real dark grainy....with very partial display to all white after a couple minutes....it does this with old tcon and new tcon ...i guess i didnt leave tv on long enough to see it do this but it does do this every time....starts out with no display then after about 2-3 minutes it gets a very partial dark grainy washed out pic then slowly goes to all white

i cant imagine this is good at all......
