Sony Bravia KDL 46hx820 6 blinks

Hi Guys,
first off does anyone know where I can get a service or training manual for a Sony kdl46hx820 .I have looked all over and can't find one.Picked this tv up as is .when powered up it had no picture or backlight .Green light comes on for a second or two sometimes with sound then red light blinks 4 times.Did a bit of reading and someone suggested wire from power supply bl error to be removed and grounded to see if that may work temporarily to further diagnose problem.tried that and green light stayed on and plugged cable in and could hear sound and change channels with remote but still no picture and no backlight at all.i reattached the BL error wire and tried it again.Now get 6 blinks of red light but that's it.Any suggestion would be great of what to try next.Thanks

Anyone? A lot of these TV's seem to have this problem.Surely someone has worked on one. Heeelp

You will have to wait(see third line...processing).
6 blink error means, backlight error -BUHT board is a possible to be bad.

got it thanks but not much help.Pretty well only tells you to change boards ,Doesn't have voltage checks or how to tell if board is bad.

That backlight board is a known issue. Repaired a 55 inch version some time ago.

any way of testing that board?Do you mean the blue board in the middle . Driver board.

I have repaired a 46" 720 and I have it in my living room.
There are some test points at each IC. You can compare between them and if do you see one different then the others, replace that IC, or the board. Mine it was ~$58 shipped from shopjimmy.

Any idea where these test points are on the board and what to check for and how?Are the voltages on the power board normal?

Each IC, has a Fail #1,2..6 test point. Measure those points and see if there is any difference between them.
I'm not an expert, to tell you if those voltages are good, but they seem like it.
Since there is an issue with the backlight, some voltages are not turning on. Those look like are for turning on the screen.

Where can I check for the 24 volt dc that goes to driver board?

Thanks BudM I am no expert,just learning .checked power board and am getting no voltage on Caps 6806 ,6807,6812,6814

should power supply have voltage on all transistors,voltage regulators, and caps? .I only have power on half of them I unplugged the 2 connectors .I have been doing a lot of reading and many tests and starting to think it's the power supply.

Somebody anybody?If the panel is gone I'm scrapping this set.Don't want to buy every board just to see whats wrong.Already bought a driver board and it wasn't that .I am perfectly capable of doing tests and soldering is not a problem either.With the number of these sets that have problems I am shocked there is not more info/treads one here to learn from.

No. If the power supply is not fully enabled there will be no mainboard power. and yes with that half the power supply will be dead.do this I remember my LVDS cable being loose on the mainboard. its a real tricky connection if I recall I was getting a 4 blink error because the ribbon was not fully seated into the connector that attaches to the main board that goes to the T CON. I would be especially concerned with it if somebody else has been into it before like mine

ok thanks .So you thinking mainboard and not power supply?I checked all connections and they are good.It was never opened until I got it.

Did you see page 87 and check the voltages on the connectors?

I circled 3 connectors, I do not see CN6002 (9 PINS), CN6001 (10 PINS)
Where are the PFC POWER, POWER ON, AC OFF DET?
Unless your board does not match the names of the pin as shown in page 87.
