So I picked up a cheap Samsung the other day, and lo and behold there was a good reason it was cheap.....so I started trouble shooting. I have not come across another instance like this so I thought I'd post and see what the general consensus was before I started throwing parts at the thing.
The inverter seems okay, with the TCON disconnected I get backlights just fine. If I connect the TCON, I get dark splotches on the left side which immediately fade, and then the entire screen fades to gray/white (with the left side of the screen always tending toward white). If I connect a source (HDMI or component) I can see a very low contrast version of it. Here's the trippy part - the entire image on the right side of the screen is inverted color.
Sound works fine, tv is not power cycling, and I scrounged a tcon from another tv and cannot tell the difference in result (same gray screen etc) when switching between the two....I have fiddled with the bonding tabs and cannot see any difference on the screen.
Any Ideas??
I do not currently have a camera, so no photos I'm afraid.
Thanks in advance - Wes
