Panel used in multiple models - Interchangeable parts?

So I'v traced a problem with a Vizio E550VL to needing a new main board. $160 - Ouch.
The MB is the type that has the built in TCON. After some research, I found that there are several other models that use the same LC550WUB-SCA1 panel and have the integrated TCON. Notably the E551VL and E552VL whose mounting points and components pretty much all line up the same.

    Opinions? Should (Will) this work?
    Has anyone ever tried it?

    Suspected interchangeable MBs listed below:
    ORIGINAL Vizio E550VL (LASPHCAL):
    PANEL:LC550WUB-SCA1
    Main Board:
    3655-0152-0150
    CSD: 3655-0152-0395

    Compatible E550VL Replacement:
    3655-0072-0395R
    3655-0072-0150

    Alternate E552VL (LATPKIBM, LAQKKICM):
    3655-0352-0395R
    3655-0352-0150
    3655-0352-0150R

    Alternate E551VL (LASPHCHM, LASPHCHL):
    3655-0332-0395R
    3655-0332-0150

Re: Panel used in multiple models - Interchangeable parts? -YES!

I am happy to report that this DOES work!
    I was able to use a 3655-0352-0150 from a Vizio E552VL in a Vizio E550VL.
All functions work, all inputs, digital and analog work, and I gained network connectivity from the upgraded board! All I had to do was dremel holes for the extra ports on the back cover.

YEP! Original board is $170, and I got the newer model board for $90.
The model upgrade took it from a dumb TV, to a smart TV with apps and internet!

3655-0332-0150 from the E551VL works....just tried it myself. This thread helped me find a cheaper alternative and i appreciate it. Wanted to report my findings

I also have an E550vl that was having many issues (all of my HDMI's had quit working, remote would only work sometimes, then it quit turning on. (I still had orange backlight, but wouldn't turn on.) I began reading forums and this seams to be a common problem... (just switch out the main board)...however, I couldn't find the E550vl main boards..all out of stock eveeywhere. I read this forum and decided to try this upgrade. I bought a main board for an E552VL and installed it very easily ($115 on ebay). I did need to cut out new holes for a 3rd rear HDMI and a hole for the ethernet cable. I'm happy to say it all works great. My E550VL is also now a smart tv.

I just came into the possession of an E550VL recently that is having the power cycling with clicking noise.

I am having the absolute worst time tracking down a replacement Main Board.

I can't seem to find a site that isn't sold out of it. Am I looking in the wrong places? What would you guys suggest.

I'd like to try to get the smart TV functionality but at this point I'll settle for a functioning TV.

                Thank you in advance.

I just set up search alerts on ebay and waited. They are probably getting harder and harder to come by...

Re: Panel used in multiple models - Interchangeable parts?

I just got a E552VL tv that won't turn on/respond to turn on command. PS-on is present but it acts as if there were no signs of life. Main board 3655-0352-0150

Now I have a board laying around, a 3655-0072-0150 from a E550VL which works with the tv, however the board is not a smart and the reason its laying around is because the HDMI ports are all toast on it.
Would it be wise/prudent to do some component swapping from the not so smart board onto the smarter board or would I just end up royally screwing up the soft/firmware?

                    Has anyone tried this?

Re: Panel used in multiple models - Interchangeable parts?

i doubt the firmware would be effected.
the biggest risk is you damage something through lack of skill or tools.

                        STJ
No problem then definitely doing it. I got all the hardware skills and tools baby!
Will report back and let everyone know if I end up bumping into any issues.
                        Thanks

Re: Panel used in multiple models - Interchangeable parts?

Sorry for the late update but came accross a similar issue, and yes indeed those are compatible. In fact someone else on another thread stated they swapped the main board from a E550VL with part number 3655-0152-0150 to the E552VL 3655-0352-0150 and it worked with proper picture. So all those parts are compatible, the only difference is some of the ports are different and the layout of the board is different.
