LG 46LD550-ub White Screen & No Sound

I know there have been a couple of these. I'm not the best tech, as someone said I'm more of a youtube-repairman ;p

However, I picked this TV up that was going to be recycled. I've repaired a PSU on a Samsung a couple of times by soldering some new caps to replace some blown ones. However, I'm trying to boil down to what component maybe the issue. Initially after some google searching I thought it maybe the TCON. I picked one up on ebay and it's on it's way. However I did a little more troubleshooting...

I plugged my laptop and an ethernet cable into the eth jack. The lights on the eth jack flickered just fine. I also plugged my laptop in HDMI. The laptop recognized it and downloaded some drivers. However, the laptop could never really stay in LCD+HDMI. It kept attempting to then would switch back to LCD. back and forth, TV didn't do anything. When I push the vol/ch/menu buttons nothing really happens either. I guess there is a little LED in the lower right hand corner that may or may not blink when you press the buttons.

So, even though the mainboard is getting power and is some what functional... it doesn't appear to be... fully functional. Unless somehow this could be caused by a faulty TCON board but I'm not really sure if that makes sense...

I have a multimeter on the way tomorrow I can test the PSU with. However my experiences in the past with PSU's generally if they're going bad the TV may light up and show the power LED, but will click back and forth when trying to turn on.

Any opinions or troubleshooting Tips? Should I just wait for the meter reads and the TCON to come in Monday? Or should I just drop the money on the mainboard now if it's evident the mainboard is the suspect?

I left the TCON out of the picture as ones on the way, plus nothing out of the ordinary really stood out on it.

    Thanks!

You cannot see any wash out image at all? Testing T-CON board will be the starting point. Did you check the voltages on the T-CON?

Thanks for the reply. Nope, no images. There is a faint line right down the center. I'll have multimeter to test a bit more tomorrow.

Did you try connecting a playing source and try pushing the input, until you hear sound?
I may even jump to the playing source, after start up.
I have repaired one of these with different issue a while ago and it was the mainboard.
I'm trying to convince somebody to sell her 60" one, with slow startup, which I believe to be capacitor issue.

I was actually going to attempt to do this with the laptop. However, that resulted in the laptop detecting the TV and it continually sourcing back and forth from LCD and LCD+HDMI. The laptop sourcing that is. I suppose that could be a driver issue... I'll try again with the roku or some thing.

Also, on my Samsung it takes like 3-5 seconds to boot up. Likely because the caps I got were from radio shack and a little bigger than oem. At least it boots though!

Slow startup is in minutes, not seconds. Seconds is normal startup.
I use a WD Live Streamer, with a playing movie.

Just wanted to update. I got my multimeter and TCON. Readings at the PSU and Main board were good. I even got readings off the TCON but I wasn't exactly sure how to gauge those... however I replaced the TCON and that resolved my issue.

                  Thanks everyone!

                      Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

My Oled Tv is 55inch tv, 3 days ago I notice that middle of the screen is getting warmer and on picture I have ghosting, missing red color. Color red was still displaying, but it was not so strong as corners of the screen and watching some movies makes me angry.
Then I get an idea to take it apart and clean boards from dust.
In side of Tv was not so bad, I take compressed air in can, and gently blow up.

Also I was thinking to styrofoam sponge to isolate power board from screen that the middle of the screen will not worm so much. Because Led on screen when gets higher...
