Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?

    Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted panel?

    99% a bad/shorted panel. Do a tape fix

Hi, are you from Albany? The fault is probably a shorted capacitor on the panel strip board, left side, on the AVDD line (15v line).. check it first with ohm meter without power, i say to you the rest later..

I can take pictures as soon as i am at my brothers house again (it´s his TV).
But it was just grey lit. With left cable from tcon to panel disconnected it was half ok, other half grey lit.

thats what i feared. I will try tape fix after i measured the cap Davi mentioned.

Before i try the tape fix, is there any way to determine what pin is shorted (measurements with multimeter or oscilloscope)? Or even blow up the short with overcurrent so that is just a open line?

And if i try the tape-fix, what lines should i tape?
I would guess the pins towards the center of the pcb where all the traces go to the big chip (left side pin 80 and lower)?

I thought so because of your nickname Igli Tare football player..

first i think you have bad cap, i'm convincted because otherwise you saw the half screen white not black, apart this if it would be the common fault with the tape "cure" , i feed doubts about the technique of the "short" killer, because i think the fault could not be a short in gate drivers, but a current deficit..

ok, that seems plausible, i will check in a few days if there is a shorted cap

Sorry, i tried to understand this sentence.
Do you mean taping does no work (reliably)?
Where are the gate drivers? directly on panel, unaccessible? Or on the small board of the Panel that holds the connectors to the tcon?
And where and why and what would be the current deficit?

These pins are always at the end of the tape.

Trying to Save - SONY BRAVIA KD-75X780F - No Picture BUT there’s sound
                  by KYBOSH
Previous owner said TV just went blank one day.
They attempted to open the back panel and yanked the power connector off the power supply in the meantime.
Easily fixed that and got the TV to turn on. Backlights come one with everything connected. Good Sign.
The mainboard shows signs of life (red light on digital audio out is on) but that's about it. Good Sign.
There is not blinking LED and the most importantly there is LED response and sound when I press the MENU button on remote control. GREAT Sign.

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                  by TR103
                  Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                  - sound and backlight, but no picture
                  - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                  - it keeps rebooting
                  - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                  - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Sony KD-43XE8005 with sound, backlight, no picture
                  by ronni
I have a Sony KD-43XE8005 with no picture on the TV when powered on. Audio and backlight work ok when powering on. Solid white indication light showing on front of tv bezel.

When removing the left hand ribbon cable from the T-con board, a white image is displayed on that half of the screen and a black screen is shown on the right. If I gently rub the ribbon cable on the right an image or purple black bars appear. The cable doesnt appear damaged, and if swapped with the other ribbon cable the same flickering symptoms can be seen.

Removing the LVDS cable results in...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                  by Ierwin
                  Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
                  by Daren87
                  Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...
