First post so be gentle. I downloaded the service manual for Sanyo off of this site to use in tinkering with a 46" Sanyo somebody gave me for a project. I discovered a hole blown out of IC1670, which is a audio regulator, if I understand right and is part of the shut down circuit. By the way my original problem was green led on front comes on and goes off the standard 3 times and locks the start button out. Browsing the service manual I discovered the 42", 46" and the 50" all have different main boards but pictures off the net show all the boards have the same 5 wire ports and are marked N7AL. Even though they are designated as N7AL on the 42", N7EK on the 46", And N7KF on the 50", as an example. Can you tell me what the differences are? Sorry for being long winded, dealt with engineers too long.

Re: SanyoDP46840
OK Are you saying that in the pictures you have seen all the boards have silkscreened
label N7AL whereas in the manual they have a different designation for each screen size?
All boards have the same 5 wire ports? Why have you picked up on that detail ( are they the usb sockets?)
I dont really know the answer to your question I would guess that they all use the same basic board but will have a different eeprom and maybe some other details differ.
I have been looking on shop jimmy where you can search for all 3 ( one actually seems to have the IC1670 missing.
Main thing I notice is that SJ says check the 4-5 digit code on the side of the tuner box.
(what does yours say?)
There is also a repair kit for these boards at SJ and on ebay. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: SanyoDP46840
The main KEY as indicated at SJ site which you should follow:
"Please verify you are ordering the correct part by finding the 4-5 digit code on the side of the tuner. Sanyo models have multiple variations of the same model."
Blank circuit board (PCB) is designed so you can stuff them (the stuffed board is called PCB assembly) with different components for particular model and version, that way they can make 1 blank board that can be used in 10 or 100's of TV models.Never stop learning

Re: SanyoDP46840
selldoor- Yes, I should have said plugs but I got flustered.
budm- Thats just it the components don't seem to change from board to board so I was just curious if thats just a Sanyo way to sell more parts. Can't tell I'm a cynical bugger can you.Last edited by Notmyfield; 08-29-2014, 09:45 PM.

Re: SanyoDP46840
That is typical for electronics companies will do. why make new board design every time when you already know that the board layout already works, just stuff them for what you need. Just like car engines, same engine can be used in more than one car models.Never stop learning

Re: SanyoDP46840
yes but can you tell us the 4/5 digit code on the Tuner Box - That is the silver box the aerial plugs into - its next in line with the usb sockets. It would be interesting to see if that reflects whether it is N7EK or N7KF and so on.Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: SanyoDP46840
Fellas, I apologize for not replying sooner, My better half had some problems with her brother 2 states away and things just turned to garden fertilizer around here, if you catch my meaning.
Selldoor- its an N7EK, however I think the reason we got this for the price was somebody buggered up the traces on the back of the board. Had I known that I would have knocked his price down. I enjoy a challege so we'll see what happens.
