Shorting an EEPROM is unlikely to resolve a firmware problem and could create further problems.

Here is my input-Hope it helps.
1. Determine the pin configuration for your particular EEPROM. Let's say Pin 5 is the SDA and Pin 8 is the VCC.
2. JoinPin 5-SDA and Pin 8-VCC with a jumper wire.
3. Power ON the TV and hold for 20 seconds. (Observe if a warning message appears on the TV screen.)
4. Disconnect the Pin 5-SDA connection.
5. Shut down TV.
6. Disconnect next end of the jumper from Pin 8-VCC.
7. Power On TV.
Jumpering an I2C bus to Vcc is a bad idea - it is an open collector bus so potentially you are shorting the supply rail. If anything jumper to GND/Vss

Yes, indeed....Instead of jumping SDL pin to VCC pin you can jump SDL pin to GND pin and get the same result........and of course....no guarantee-at your own risk.
From my previous post #8 in Step 4 when the SDL conn ection is removed with the TV ON what will happen is the EEPROM will be updated with null values that TV could boot with.

Looking at the PDF posted for the 24C02/24C04 EEPROM Pin 8-VCC, Pin 4-GND and Pin 5-SDA

Reason: Pin # error
I tried these steps and no change. now I did not tell all. I can use the remote and buttons to move between update and current software info, but can exit the menu. tv comes on when plug in by its self
