My M3D651SV Vizio went down about 2 weeks ago during a storm with some bad lightening. The house never lost power during the storm, but we had a tornado warning and sirens and I had to go to the basement. The TV was on the local news watching the storm when we had to head downstairs. When I came back up the TV had the 'no signal' message on the screen and the screen was black. I could not turn the tv off with the remotes (TV or cablebox remote). I can't currently remember how I shut it down for the night.... The next day the TV had the orange vizio logo lit up, but the remotes still had not effect on the TV. The TV was unplugged and plugged back in when i was at work and it did not come back on. When I got home I noticed the orange vizio light was out. I tried to unplug and replug the power again to see if I could get it back up and nothing. I also held the side power button for up to a minute to try to reset and tried other outlets with not luck.
None of the other devices plugged into the same surge protector are having issues.
The PSU had two areas I thought may have had issues. Sort of look like something happened to two parts, where they looked like they leaked onto the plastic board. I decided to buy a new psu from shopjimmy, but installing the new board did nothing. No lights or signs of power are showing. I can hear a small power surge when plugging in the power cord, but that is it. Nothing else shows life.
I used a analog multimeter to measure the psu fuse and the 2 inboard rectangular box type fuses on the board with the all the peripheral hookups (hdmi's vga, composite, etc.) All the fuses seemed to have continuity.
None of the boards show blown capacitors or odd looking issues.
I'm not sure what else to do. I was thinking about buying another board, but not sure if it will help or not.
Thanks for any help or suggestions. I can provide pictures of the boards if needed, but they all look good from what I can see. I will admit this is the first TV I have opened up, but I have done some research on the web. I think they call that, 'Just Enough To Be Dangerous!;
Thanks
Bob W.
