M3D650SV Vizio - no power - went down during storm and lightening

My M3D651SV Vizio went down about 2 weeks ago during a storm with some bad lightening. The house never lost power during the storm, but we had a tornado warning and sirens and I had to go to the basement. The TV was on the local news watching the storm when we had to head downstairs. When I came back up the TV had the 'no signal' message on the screen and the screen was black. I could not turn the tv off with the remotes (TV or cablebox remote). I can't currently remember how I shut it down for the night.... The next day the TV had the orange vizio logo lit up, but the remotes still had not effect on the TV. The TV was unplugged and plugged back in when i was at work and it did not come back on. When I got home I noticed the orange vizio light was out. I tried to unplug and replug the power again to see if I could get it back up and nothing. I also held the side power button for up to a minute to try to reset and tried other outlets with not luck.

None of the other devices plugged into the same surge protector are having issues.

The PSU had two areas I thought may have had issues. Sort of look like something happened to two parts, where they looked like they leaked onto the plastic board. I decided to buy a new psu from shopjimmy, but installing the new board did nothing. No lights or signs of power are showing. I can hear a small power surge when plugging in the power cord, but that is it. Nothing else shows life.

I used a analog multimeter to measure the psu fuse and the 2 inboard rectangular box type fuses on the board with the all the peripheral hookups (hdmi's vga, composite, etc.) All the fuses seemed to have continuity.

None of the boards show blown capacitors or odd looking issues.

I'm not sure what else to do. I was thinking about buying another board, but not sure if it will help or not.

    Thanks for any help or suggestions. I can provide pictures of the boards if needed, but they all look good from what I can see. I will admit this is the first TV I have opened up, but I have done some research on the web. I think they call that, 'Just Enough To Be Dangerous!;

    Thanks
    Bob W.

Main boards would be the one to change after a power surge and storm.

Upload good clear pictures of the boards and the whole back side of the TV will be a good start.

Re: M3D650SV Vizio - no power - went down during storm and lightening

Here's the main board front and back. I was pulling the wires today and I pulled out the bottom left white/blue tipped ribbon and the connector piece stayed on the board. I'm hoping this is the purpose of this line, but i.m not sure. So the white plastic connector or board connection is still on the board. I also attached a pic of this connection and how it looks after trying to pull it from the board. Hopefully it just slides back in and the connector is meant to stay on the board??

TO CLARIFY I HAVE THE Vizio M3D650SV not the M3D651SV. I pasted the correct name in my thread title, but then the wrong on in the initial thread post content.

Here's the AUO - LED driver board. Front back and side. I tried to get a side pic of the caps to show what I thought shows them in good condition.

Re: M3D650SV Vizio - no power - went down during storm and lightening

Here's the PSU (original one before power issue) front and back. The new one is installed currently. If needed I can take a back of the board pic of the new PSU.

I circled the areas i thought had leaked from the power surge on the old PSU pic. In the center of the circle there's some brown dried liquid. Not sure if that was damage or not. It could just be glue.

Also have pics of the entire back off of the tv with the boards in place. One with covers and one with no covers.

The current deal is there's no power at all, even with the new PSU board and holding the side power button for a short time and after a minute of holding to reset.

              Any suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks for the two replies already. My thought is main board is the next purchase, but I'm having a problem locating the M3D650SV main board online. I can find the M3D651SV, but not sure if its compatible.

Any thoughts on the next step? From what I can see all the boards look good and I posted picks in hopes someone may catch something bad from a pic. Should I buy a main board? I'm not sure what to do next... Thanks

Take the DC voltage readings on each pin of the connectors when TV power switch is OFF and when power switch is ON. Make sure to write down each pin names on the report. You will use black probe of the meter on the chassis as ground ref. point.

I ended up taking the TV to a TV repair guy. The TV was diagnosed with bad a main board. The only problem is I can't find the main board anywhere. It's a 3665-0042-0150 (4c).

I need help with a Vizio model M3D650SV to identify a component on the main board. The component is Q32 and the board number 0171-2272-4234. It looks like it could be a FET because the markings show a D and S. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can help with your Vizio let me know.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Anyway, at odd times if I have the power cable unplugged, the TV will get stuck on the vizio logo. It doesn't seem like it happens when its powered on but did do it once plugged in.
