  • Re: Toshiba 49l621u BL_ON to DIM jump repair

I only temporarily wired BL_ON to DIM, can LED backlights be that intermittent where if you force them on they will work properly afterwards?

TV's been doing fine now, just watched a movie on it.

  • Toshiba 49l621u BL_ON to DIM jump repair

I just got this TV in today, and originally it would flash the logo and have no backlight afterwards. I could see the image without the backlight with a flashlight.

Having no 9V batteries or anything on hand, and all the backlight LEDs looking fine during the flash, I decided to jump BL_ON and DIM on the power board/mainboard (White and purple wire) with them still plugged in using some scissors to connect my shielded voltmeter cables.

After jumping a few times, the backlight stayed on. Why?

I didn't measure any voltages beforehand... So just wondering...

  • Re: Vizio P502UI-B1E has no backlight, no voltage from driver board to LED's

I also threw mine in the oven for 10 minutes at 400F I guess, my oven is really old.
Just put it on the rack with the heatsink side down. Downside is my coax port melted I think.. Its jammed now.

I removed the thermal pads before throwing it in the oven, and it worked great. Other than that I had to reseat a tcon cable I was fenaggling with and worked fine afterwards.

Second vizio tv I've had with bad solders.

  • Vizio m3d650sv strange power-on issue

    Its at firmware revision: 2.17.0.1100
Plugged in the LAN cable and only apps updated. Apparently there is a newer firmware.

Anyway, at odd times if I have the power cable unplugged, the TV will get stuck on the vizio logo. It doesn't seem like it happens when its powered on but did do it once plugged in.

I hafto unplug it and plug it back in for it to get past the vizio logo sometimes.

Any advice? There's no reset button, a few caps looked bulged but not leaking on the main board.

Any way I can get it to update its fir...

  • Hot tab bond, vertical white bar.

I have a sony XBR TV I just picked up that has a tab bond that gets extremely hot in the middle of the cable, where some rectangular piece is. Pressing on the tab bond does nothing except for make a few extra colored vertical bars show on the screen.

Could the TCON cause this? How can I repair the set?

See second photo for tab/screen display....

  • Vizio, Powers off while on/sometimes doesn't power on

    Model: D65U-D2

Got it for free, I started to play with the settings after opening my door to get some fresh air and it powered down twice on me after turning on the calibrated setting and turning on auto high brightness adjustment and black level adjustment settings.

Sometimes it doesn't power on, when the tv shuts down while I'm using it it doesn't want to start but eventually will on the second time. I blew out the back of the TV with some air duster and that seemed to help some, but unsure as to what's wrong. The temperature difference outside and inside was a few...

  • Vizio sometimes doesn't power on

    I have a vizio D65u-D2.

It powers on fine most of the time, but sometimes when I hit the power button on the remote the power LED on the TV turns on then off and the vizio logo doesn't display. Then I just hafto hit the power button again and it'll turn on.

It's been like this since I got it for free off facebook awhile back.

    Otherwise it's been fine.

    Any advice? Thanks in advance!!
