    Re: Memorex T3321

Photos please, would be great. Including photos of the old and new PSUs.

Where are the capacitors located that you replaced? (Do you know what their function in circuit is?) What were the original capacitors? What did you use for replacements?

Something going pop was probably something blowing. Maybe a fuse, maybe a component. Inspect the boards carefully for burnt components under good daylight.

Link doesn't work, please upload your photos to the forum, that way others can use them for future reference too - external links have a habit of eventually disappearing

It looks like there has been arc-over between two tracks in that area. Did you clean it?
Can we get a photo of the other side of the PSU too, to see what is going on there?

Was the new PSU brand new or used? Can you post photos of it also? Preferably the inside of the whole set also.

With sound but no picture could be a backlight issue. Do you get sound even with the screen off, or does everything eventually stop? If you shine a bright light on the screen, can you make anything out? (works better at night) It could be the lights\inverter is bad but everything else is working.

OK, so it is getting the backlights ON signal OK. So the two 10uf 450V caps on the new board look OK.

I believe the D10 has to do with the standby power supply.

What circuit keeps the lamps on , why would the lights just flash on but not stay on

Probably a fault in the inverter circuit, or it could have a bad lamp(s). Maybe it doesn't like your new capacitors.

Macbook Pro A1707 - Dead - Battery 'popped'
                                          by AdrenalinTL
                                          Hi Peeps.

Just a quick question please as I am by no means an Apple fundi at all.

Can a 'popped' battery cause the Macbook to be completely dead? Client said the battery definitely popped. It doesn't look swelled or anything but it doesn't switch on at all. No lights, no fans, nothing.

Also, using a 85W original Apple charger. That is working for sure. Does it need more wattage?

Don't want to go buy a battery for no reason.

Client is adamant is worked before the battery popped and I can't see any damage what so ever on the board...

Onn 100012588 backlight issue *Solved 70 inch
                                          by EazyBone
Had another one of these 70 inchers from onn and was same problem as others. The picture shows but no backlight. The backlights test fine. The issue is the 450v 10uf capacitor by the backlight connector. Usually the cap bulges, the cap I replaced today for fix was NOT bulging. Replaced anyway and fixed.

                                          Hope this helps someone....

MSI MS-16W1 no power, EC replaced by other.

Hi, I'm working on a MSI laptop, Motherboard number MS-16W11, GF-65 Thin 10SDR-459US. Went to another shop because the screen was flickering, but it was working well on an external monitor. The LCD was ordered and the laptop was returned to the customer and it no longer worked. It was then sent to another tech (by the shop who ordered the LCD) and the EC (ENE KB9028Q) was replaced with a donor from another MSI board with different board number and no programming was done. It looks like work was done on PU6 (TPS51225) as well as one of the GPU mosfets was burnt (I removed all three GPU mosfets)....

Asus FX505DD REV 2.0 no power after someone replaced the cmos battery with a screwdriver.

I have a dead FX505D, motherboard FX505DD REV 2.0 , the owner replaced the cmos using a screwdriver and he touched something on the board, since then the laptop its not starting, i have managed to see that U8800 (BQ24780SRUYR) charging IC is getting hot under a thermal camera , i have desoldered it but the laptop still doesn't power on, i also have no voltage at power connector on the board. I also replaced the U8800 but still no power. What should i check next?

HP Probook 640 G5 - replaced blown components, getting power led, fan full, 5-flashes on CAPS Lock and NUM lock, black screen
                                          by zlr8r
Hey guys, bit stumped with this laptop after replacing 2 blown components i.e., MP86493, MP2979A.

To begin with, this laptop was dead-dead.

                                          Now with replaced (visibly) blown components, i do get some progress; after connecting battery or main cable;
                                          • am getting white power led
                                          • 5-long-flashes on CAPS Lock and NUM lock
                                          • then, fan full speed
                                          • CPU heats up some (smaller die PCH, does not)
                                          • always constant black screen no matter what's tried
                                          • no USB recognition
                                          • no HDMI output
this is as far as I can get with it and not sure where to inspect next ?

                                          I tried...
