Sharp LC-46D64U TV voltage... both 110V and 220V?

Question is will my Sharp LC-46D64U accept both 110 and 220V input?

The back of my TV has the sticker than mentions 110V for north american and below has 100-240 for others. The manual also says the same thing, but I called Sharp and the lady I spoke to on the phone said they didn't recommend it... not sure though.

Any advice would be great... Moving overseas and would like to not have to buy a voltage transformer...

I'm not planning on receiving the "local" (foreign) signals thru cable/satelite... I would only be using it for streaming US TV over VPN, watching movies, playing video games.

I'm attaching a page from the manual... see near the bottom. It references both 120V and 110-240V...

You would be better showing the picture of any info on the back of the tv.
Also there may be more information or a jumper or wire link on the power supply board
with an alternative position for different voltages.

Hope your not going to brazil

Are you recommending that I open up the back of the TV to look at the power supply board?

Yes, as you said the label is as confusing as the manual. There may be something specific on the power supply board you would have thought the help desk could have given a definite response .

Opened the back... here are a couple pictures of the power supply board. Looks like it's ok for 110-240V. Tried to google the board part number for specifications but all the sites I looked at didn't give anything I was looking for.

Id say the tick in the middle box is the clue. Sorry i dont have time now to check further
guess you searched for DC-2541-1A ?

Yeah I googled the DC... number. Mostly Ebay and other sites selling used boards with no real information other that the TV model number it's compatible with.

Yep leaving for Norway in August, I'll be there 2-3 years. Seeing the northern lights is definitely on my list of things to do. But I hear it's sometimes hit or miss... and yes crazy expensive!

The TV should be fine. The only thing that won't work will be something like the tuner; the HDMI and component ports should still work as they are completely universal. Also, it will probably work with PAL sources as most modern TVs support PAL and NTSC, regardless of the region they are made for.

have you got a foto of the psu?
it's worth checking what voltage the smoothing cap(s) are for a start.

they may have left parts out or used under-rated parts for the u.s. market.

btw, it probably wont be much use in norway unless you have a cable or sat reciever when you get there.
they use DVB and it's probably MP4 and HD.
if your tv can tune it, it may still need an MP4 cam module.

                            ksufocus,

were you able to verify whether or not the Sharp LC-46D64U TV works on 220V without a transformer?

                            Thank you.

                              Hi all,

I recently picked up this amp as not working. I took it as is. Didn't notice until I got home it had foreign power plug and was marked 110v and our local voltage is 220v so then I knew what had happened to it.

Opened it up and was able to find the schematic online. In the schematic I have uploaded I have erased the parts for 220v operation to make it easier for me to visualise however I have since added the two additional diodes and remove the wire link from the power supply so I can test it easier on 220v

From the FAQ I learnt that for 110v the power...

This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...
