So I pulled the transformer and looked under it and the board is burnt pretty bad and pretty deep.

I cleaned it as best as I could but it still is rather nasty, anyway when removing the soldiering one of the outer feet solider pads to the transformer came off. There is no copper around it, no trace running to it so I am not sure what the purpose for these 5 solider points are as they have nothing attached to them top or bottom.

this board looks to be a single sided board only.

They the use the same transformer form factor with all the pins so they can have the choice of making many version of the transformer, one may have two primary windings and two secondary windings, or one with one primary winding and two secondary winding, etc. the extra pins also help to keep the transformer securely attached to the PCB.
Since carbonized PCB is conductive, you need to remove the burnt ot section so you will not have high voltage arcing in that area.

I am going to get a new board, I found one local just waiting to hear back on it.

This one the burn is pretty bad and its over a main trace, I did power up the Panel and it worked (no back light) I just wanted to see what would happen. I can hear the 2 original transformers squealing pretty badly.

So an update on this, so I cleaned the soot off, installed 3 new transformers and nothing. After a few seconds I hear something start to squeal on the power board, is there some sort of protection circuit that needs to be disabled or reset?

The panel still works, have picture and audio just no CCFL juice!

I wonder if those two MOSFETs on the middle heat sink are OK, they drive those three inverter transformers.

No, I didn't get the board it sold before I could accept his counter offer unfortunately. So I took my dremel and cleaned up the burn as best as I could on the original board. So I just got 3 new updated transformers for this darfon board.

also check the windings on the new transformers i had a brand new transformer that was faulty a short while ago.

so on my tv I bought the same transformer that was still in spec with the other 2 looked the same ohm ed the same from a vender in china it took three weeks for it to come in (i think it is supposed to be 4% tolerance of voltage) I cleaned the carbon off and then I soldered it in and the tv works fine now it has been running for months no problems watching tv or movies

Mine is still dead, I did however get a whole other Westie that had the same bottom blown transformer and popped a new one in after cleaning up the board and its been working great.

I think this Westie's board is shot, not sure I want to spend 80.00 from chinatown on a new board considering I sold the other one for that price.

BUT on a good note, these TV's have a pretty remarkable looking picture for being a bottom end unit.

                              Hello!

I'm looking at an original Xbox PSU: Foxlink ftps-0002 rev. B. The 12 V output is too low, and the 5 V output is too (?) high. Unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope but only a DMM for diagnosis.

                              Measured voltages with no load:

                              After rectifier diodes
                              12V: 6.17 V
                              5V: 5.67 V

Secondary transformer pins AC measurement (really don't know if this says anything)
                              12V: 2-2.5 V
                              5V: 1.04 V

I also have another (working) Xbox psu from Delta. The same measures there, in order, being: 10.79,...

                              Hi all,
Got this local made DC power supply (12/14V) given free as the transformer has melted. There is no marking or indication to identify what type or rating of transformer used.
Fyi,. I had a busted autogate mainboard with transformer with marking 13-0-13 . Is this the 13v dc type transformer?
                              My questions are
                              1. How do i test to see if the transformer is in good working condition?
                              2. Can this transformer (marking 13-0-13) be used to replace the melted transformer on the DC power supply?
Hope you guys understand what i was asking. My intention is...

I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

                              Hello All,

i would like to post an interesting topic regarding 3-phase stepdown transformer which we suspect to cause an overcurrent (138A) which resulted to power tripped off of the HV power supply (80KV output).

                              Problem statement: Power tripped Off

Initial Problem: Found 2 IGBT and 2 rectifier diodes shorted (burnt).

                              Action Done:
                              1) Replaced the faulty parts with good spare.
                              2) Measured impedance of the 3phase input lines and found that L2 to L3 has 23.3ohm while other pairs are 51Kohm. This pins will...
