    Onn le32lcd0802id

So after the last TV I fixed, I've got the bug a bit and bought another broken TV for a few quid off ebay. The symptoms were that the picture went off, then the sound, and now it's totally dead.

I've had the back off and the problem is pretty obvious from the pictures. You can see the burning on the cable between the power board and the inverter.

In addition, there is continuity between the pins circled in red between themselves, and also the ones circled in green.

Would I be right in thinking these should not be shorted and that's the cause of the burning? So a new inverter board and cable would be the solution?

    thanks

They are connected in parallel to handle the current required by the inverter circuit. You also bad cap C1 (c2 looks like its on its way also) the bottom seal is coming off, you should replace those caps on the inverter board, and also inspect the caps in the powwer supply board or replace them as a set. The burnt is due to poor connector high contact resistance. You should also replace the headers otherwise you have to clean the pins really well.

So you think the problem is just capacitors? I can obviously change them all but I'd be interested how they could cause that fault.

Also, is there a place to buy replacement cables, or a way to make them up yourself?

        Thanks

Lkely their failure upset the operation of the circuit and caused it to draw too much current, burning the wires.

Cheers all. Got the parts in yesterday, basically new pin header for the PCB, pins and housing for the cable and a couple of capacitors.....

              Bah, not completely solved.

Initially everything was fine and I could turn it off, but now hitting power off on the remote, TV or letting it go to auto shut down just hangs on "Turning off, please wait".

              Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

After leaving it unplugged for a few hours, it doesn't seem to be doing that anymore. Am just running it in for 24 hours before moving it on.
