          Well, ok...
I SUPPOSE they could be bad...
I would be personally surprised, but if you like, try swapping them.

could i test most of the circuits on the good board to the faulty board in circuit?

Thanks tom you been really helpful

which location on the Y-SUS are these located and are these tested in circuit?

                      Re: 42PJ350 clicking noise

Decided to have another go at repairing this set. I was sure it was the power supply. I have changed most of the caps and the most common failing components except the 2 resistors which I checked out of circuit. I put 2 100watt bulbs on the output as per service manual and was going through the other tests when the bulbs came on. Reconnected the connector to the Y-sus board and the tv came on fine. Put the cover on and the tv started clicking again but comes on after about 10 min.
Is it usually a capacitor that would cause this ?

glad you managed to fix the set and all seems fine now but when you tested the caps off the board did you just test them with a capacitor meter or did you use a esr meter?

I used a fluke meter which can test capacitors. I retested the capacitors only one seemed very slow giving a reading. 3300uf read 3815uf.

I too have the same problem. I have also changed all the normal components that go faulty on this power supply. But despite all of this work the power supply still clicks and refuses to start. It is power supply related because it also clicks with no other boards connected when forcing the board to switch on.
I was interested to read the post by Del3165 regarding changing a few few capacitors that eventually resolved the fault. If your reading this post Del3165 I would be interested to know whether its still working ok and if so can you remember the which capacitor when changed cured the fault.

Tv working fine . I tried everything recommended before changing the caps. I changed all the caps apart from the 2 very large ones.

                                      Hi all,

I am working on a sound processor, it tends to overheat so I fitted a fan inside. The fan is connected to the +15V of the PSU via a DC-DC converter based on the LM2596 to reduce the voltage to around 10.5V.

Unfortunately the analogue circuitry is picking up the noise from the fan in two ways:
                                      1. The fan is close to the analogue section, the motor itself gets into the outputs so I'll have to move it somewhere else
                                      2. Even with the fan running outside of the case, there is still some noise which is clearly going back to the processor via power line....

Surprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.

Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.

There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...

                                      Hello

I have since a long time a Philips HTS8010S/01 which has been old but was doing the job.

Since a few days, it starts by making a weird "static" nois when switches on for a few seconds to a minute and then works like a charm.
Noise loudly outputs from the 3 channels, even if no signal is sent by the controler.DVD to the subwoofer/amp unit.

I was thinking of a soldering that was starting to be damaged and that was only doing the job after a few seconds of heating, most probbaly on the power board

                                      Hello!

TL;DR: Replaced blown Q801, Q802 and fuse, but it didn't fix the problem.

I'm trying to repair this TV, since it developed clicking symptom. I disconnected Y-SUS and Z-SUS boards, but PSU was still clicking, so then I was sure problem lies in PSU. When you plug it in, you can hear 2 clicks from relay and then one click when it shuts down. I found two shorted mosfets Q801, Q802 and blown fuse F801. I replaced those elements, but it's still doing the same.

After some research, I found out resistors R108-113 need to be checked and sure one was showing...
